The doorbell rang while Emily was still putting on my mascara. It took us a freaking hour to actually get ready. I didn't know a girl could actually take that long. My date with Lucas didn't take that long. Who cares although I have to say I do look kind of pretty. Plus the fact that I finally got contacts and don't have to wear my glasses anymore was a surprise.
"Are you done yet?" I asked.
"One more second," she said still putting on the mascara.
Man that will be hard to take off. I just can't wait till Blake sees me. I hope he likes it. Maybe it will be too much and he won't like me anymore. Hopefully it will be worth it.
"Done," Emily says pulling me downstairs even before I could see myself in the mirror.
We get to the bottom of the stairs and I stop immediately. Never would I have thought I'd see Blake Preston in a suit. It felt like prom night except we were just on a date. I wanted to scream. This is so romantic. Lets just say I was kind of acting like a love sick little girl. He was also holding some flowers in his hand. Lilies.
"Wow," he said smiling like an idiot.
I smiled, "hey."
That was when I realized that the whole while we were staring at each other, everyone had left. I started walking towards him biting my lips. I was so nervous. This was so not like my date with Lucas. With him, it didn't really feel right. But now with Blake, my heart was beating and my hands and legs were shaking.
"So," Blake said clearing his throat, "Um these are for you."
He handed me the flowers and I tool them gladly. I could smell the amazing smell on them. I put the flowers on the table and took his hand as he led me out to his car. My heart was still beating really fast and I really hope Blake couldn't feel my sweaty hand. We go out to his car and I hesitated.
"What's wrong?" he asked worriedly.
I looked at him confused, "I thought he drove a Lamborghini?"
He laughed, "no I'm not that type of person. My dad drives one. Why?"
"I um," I started, "I thought you were having sex with another person in your car. It turns out you don't even own that car."
He sighed, "oh so that's what this is about? Cause you kind of scared me there. I thought you wanted me to drive a Lamborghini."
I laughed, "I don't care what kind of car you drive."
He opened the door for me which is so sweet of him. I didn't know Blake could be a gentlemen. The only one I knew was the one that used to bully me. Maybe he wasn't as bad as everyone had thought. Maybe inside he was just a handsome softy.
I climbed into the car and waited until we were riding for 10 minutes before asking him where we were going. I'm not really good with surprises. Just the anxiety and excitement just made me want to explode.
"So where are we going?" I asked.
He laughed, "I already told you it's a surprise."
I rolled my eyes, "come on Blake I hate surprises."
"Well then I guess I better have more surprises in the future."
Future? How long exactly did he think I would be here. I mean the summer was almost over. I would have to go back to California soon. Sure in the movies, they always had a happy ending but this is real life. It's not going to always to end happy. I would have to say good bye no matter how hard I try to fight that thought out of my head. You can't avoid the inevitable.
Suddenly I felt a hand on top of my hand, "hey what's wrong? Do you really hate surprises that much?"
I sighed and shook my head, "it's just you know we're going to have to say goodbye soon. And everyone knows that long distance relationship never works."
He laughed, "I guess your parents didn't tell you did they?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked confused.
"Call them," he said.
I was still confused but I decided to call them. This better be important because I don't really like the idea of calling my parents while I am on a date. I dialed my mom's number and she picked up on the third ring.
"Charlie is something wrong?" she asked worriedly.
"No," I said, "it's just Blake told me to call you cause I was worried we would have to say goodbye when summer ends."
She sighed, "oh honey I was going to tell you tomorrow but I guess you can't really enjoy a date knowing that you won't be seeing them soon. You father and I have decided that you should stay here in Georgia. I mean you made some new friends and even going out on a date. If you don't want to stay that's fine with us but I'm sure you wouldn't want to end your relationship with Blake. I promise you that you can go back to see your father anytime you want."
I was still shocked that I just said ok and hanged up. I was actually going to be staying here. Going to school and everything? How is this possible. It's strange that at the beginning of the summer, all I wanted to do was get out of here. Now that I was actually with Blake and everything, I kind of wanted to stay. To see where this might lead us.
"We're here," Blake said knocking me out of my thoughts.
I had been so wrapped up on staying that I didn't realized that we were here. Here as in a bowling alley. Our first date and Blake was going to take me to a bowling alley? Really? How romantic. I thought. And another thing. I hated bowling. Every time I went, I somehow embarrassed myself. If I was lucky maybe I might actually get one or two pins down but other than that, I hated bowling.
"what's wrong now?" Blake asked.
I sighed, "I hate bowling."
He laughed, "really? Why?"
"Because I'm not good at bowling ok." I said crossing my arms. I refuse to go in there. He'd have to take me to another place.
Blake shook his head, "come on Charlie. Just cause you're not good at it doesn't mean you have to hate it. How about we go in there and I'll teach you how to do it right?"
I shook my head, "it's still a no."
"Fine I guess all that money I was going to spend on smoothies is wasted." He pretended to look down sadly.
I grumbled. If there's one thing I liked, it was smoothies. How the heck did Blake know that? He started climbing out of the car slowly. I rolled my eyes. This guy was really pushing it. He is so not good at acting.
"Fine I'll go in," I said reluctantly.
Blake did a fist bump in the air and walked over to my side to open the door for me. I got out and stomped into the alley. I was so not looking forward to this night. And I'm wearing a freaking dress for goodness sakes. I thought we were going to a restaurant or something. I guess I'm not that good enough for fancy restaurants.
We were in there for ten minutes and I was already falling on my butts. It was so going to left a bruise. And Blake wasn't helping either. He was just sitting there laughing his head off. The only good thing was that I could order as many smoothies as I wanted which was delicious.
Just then I felt Blake behind me, "What are you doing?" I asked.
"Teaching you," he said.
So he went on about how you're suppose to stand in the middle. Well duh everyone knows that. And how you're actually suppose to hold the ball. I was close. And the way you're suppose to stand. It wasn't my fault the Wii didn't teach me that. Then he helped me throw the ball which I have to say made me look like a baby. In the end I got my very own record. One strike and out of ten rounds that one strike was the only pins I knocked down. The most embarrassing moment ever.
