A large area of the field had been cleared for us to sit on and eat and sleep. Everyone was around a fire and because I was 'so brave' I was allowed to have my own little fire. I didn't feel like joining in with the group as I just wanted to be by myself. Everyone thought that I couldn't look after myself since the farm and that's why Rick didn't want me to do the run. Especially after the mall...

I looked around and dad was on top of the prison bus, keeping watch. Rick was pacing back and forth around the fence to make sure that it was safe. If he hadn't found anything by now then we're fine. noticed that Carol joined dad on the bus. It was probably her shift but they were talking. I couldn't hear them or make out their faces. I started wondering if something was going on between them... Would dad tell me? He started giving her a back run and the thought of dad being with someone who makes him happy, makes me happy.

I was laying on my back, watching the stars shine. Thud. Someone had laid down next to me. I didn't care who it was but I just wanted them to go away. I wanted to be alone.

"Sorry for being an ass." George muttered.

I gave a faint smile, "You need to be more specific."

"I'm sorry for being so horrible. I should've known that you were scared and need comforting." George corrected.

"Apology accepted." I told him.

I moved closer to him and laid my head on his shoulder.

In the morning, Rick, Daryl, T-Dog, Glenn, and Maggie go into the recently locked part of the courtyard. Hershel quickly closed the gate behind them, trapping them in but also keeping the walkers out. They got into a small formation and from behind the fence wee tried to get the attention of nearby walkers. When walkers tried to get us, we stabbed them, killing them so that there'd be less workers. They turned a corner and they were out of sight and we all got very nervous.

"Open the gates!" I ordered Hershel, "Let me in!"

"No Jasmine. You have to stay here, where it's safe." Lori tells me.

"Nowhere is safe." I spat, "Or are we living in different worlds?"

We walked into the cell block. Our new home.

"I ain't sleeping in no cage." Dad said from the floor above, "I'll take the perch."

I looked at the cells and I didn't like the look of them. I didn't want to be alone in one of them so I walked over to my dad.

"Dad." I whispered.

"Hey, Jas." Dad greeted, "Do you want to share a cell with George? Or stay with me?"

"You'd allow me to stay with a boy?" I questioned, shocked.

"As long as you have separate beds." Dad warned.

"I'm gonna stay with George." I told him.

I ran off to find George. He was alone in a cell, putting his stuff around the room. He hadn't noticed me and started taking his shirt off so I coughed to get his attention. He quickly put his shirt back on before turning to me. He grabbed me and pulled me into a hug.

"So where's your cell?" George asked, "I need to know where I'm sneaking into every night."

"Here, if you'll allow me." I told him.

"If your dad's okay with it." I gave him a nod.

I threw my bag onto the floor, in the corner next to the bed. I flopped onto the bottom bunk and George crawled in. He pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead. Me and George hadn't been dating long so we haven't had a proper kiss, yet. I saw Carl stop at our doorway. He gave me a sad look before walking away.

I was going to have to find some spare bedsheets tomorrow to turn into curtains. I wanted to have some privacy if this was ever going to actually be a home. Especially when I'm getting changed.

I woke up in a bed. For a second, I thought that I was still dreaming but then I remembered. I turned, expecting to see George but it was just me. I got up and saw that George was on the top bunk. I got onto my tippy toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek before walking out.

The next morning, I found out that they were going to carry on searching through the prison.

"I'm coming." I told my dad and Rick.

"Okay." Dad agreed without a second thought.

"So it's going to be me, you, Jas, T-Dog, Glenn, Maggie and Hershel." Rick confirmed.

Dad gave Rick a nod before looking through all of the weapons and armour. Like my dad, I was repelled at the armour so I wasn't going to wear it.

Dad locked the door behind us and Glenn marked the way. As it was dark, we all had flashlights as well as melee weapons. I had my knife in one hand and flashlight in the other. I was in the middle of the group with everyone else protecting me. I wasn't really paying attention as I was being babied. I heard a low growl in the distance. We all had to turn around, trying not to make a lot of noise. We were running and I felt a hand grab my arm, pulling me along. It was my dad trying to make sure that I didn't get lost. We had to quickly get into a little cupboard only, Glenn and Maggie weren't with us. We had to go back for them. The coast was clear so we slowly came out, trying to be quite so we didn't attract walkers.

Screams. Screams filled the air. Scream directed us. Screams also attracted walkers. Screams were coming from Hershel. We picked him up and took him to an empty room. He was laid across the floor and I decided to look around the room because I couldn't see Hershel like this. The room was an canteen or at least it looked like one. I sat up on the counter, against the wire. I felt something grab my hair before my head was pulled up against the wire.

"HELP!" I screamed.

Dad lifted his crossbow and pointed at the assumed walker but he didn't shoot.

"Holy shit." I heard muttered behind me.

They weren't walkers but humans. Who ever had my hair, let go of me and I ran to dad.
