Breaking Chains

Chalin looked up at a large tree in front of her. Then she looked to the left and then to her right.

Why so? Why are the trees the same? The plants? There really is no difference.

"Am I missing?" she talked to herself then looked around again. "Maybe...it's already dark...how did I come here?"

Suddenly a cold wind blew carrying a chilling voice with it.

Chaaaalllliiiinnnnn....

"Huh?! Who is that?!" Could she be hearing things?

Chaaaalllliiiinnn....

Her fur stood on end. She seemed to have heard that voice that seemed to be asking for help, but couldn't figure out where.

Oh, please don't scare me! But the caller is really pushy. She heard the plea in its voice.

Chaaaalllliiiinnn...

Even though she was afraid, she followed the call. She entered the thickest part of the forest. She walk uncaring of the danger that might be waiting ahead, all she knows is to find whoever is calling her. After all the turns she made she stop outside a cave. 

One look at the mouth of the cave and you don't want to enter it. There is also a magic ward in a form of a chain, with tiny specs of light emitting from  it, Challin is absolute that the chain was made by a powerful Sage Barrier. 

With someone like her, with weak magic, it will be impossible for it to be destroyed.

Please...help me Chaaalllliiiinnn....

"How can I help you?" she ask reluctantly

Come..Enter..break the chain that blocks...release me...

"That would be very impossible."

How did you know if you can or not if you don't try...

"You've got a point. So what should I do?"

Just touch it and it will destroy itself...

Challin almost smirk, "Oh sure, but don't expect anything" So she went closer and grabbed the chain.

A few moments pass and nothing happens. "Oh, see? There is nothing."

No answer

"Hey! Are you still there?"

The wind blew once again. The rustling of the leaves made an eerie sound in the darkness.
It looks like someone pulled a joke on her. And she is too stupid to believe it. She let go of the chain and decided to finally go back. 

"Enfero must be waiting for me"

She only walk a few steps when a sound of breaking stops her feet.

"Wait, what's that noise?" she look back at the cave and her eyes widened at what she saw.

The chain barrier, is slowly developing cracks like vine roots creeping, covering the entire chain. Until the chain can no longer hold the crack and it exploded. A strong force was released causing her to flew back and fall down. 

She coughed after inhaling the smoke and dust covering the place.

Shameless! How did the barrier come to be destroyed?

Suddenly the place becomes extremely cold, causing her to look up. 

Challin froze, a pair of yellow glaring eyes greeted her. It took her seconds to notice the sharp and long nails, long brown hair, and a menacing smiling face.

Rough hand grabbed her neck in a tight hold. Her whole body trembled and she felt dizzy from fear. Even if she wanted to run, she couldn't.

Because if she didn't make a mistake, she just released a monster that was destined to destroy the kingdom of Aphelon.

"Are you a-the celestial m-monster that i-is called A-Aravil?"

"Lourde! Lourde!!! Lourde!!!!"

The large door opened violently and Lourde looked at the woman with chocolate color and wavy hair in surprise.

"Lourde..ha..ha.." she said breathlessly "The...ha...the...barrier...ha...was destroyed. A barrier that Alka made to Aravil has also been destroyed! "

His eyes widened at what he heard then he smiled meaningfully. "Looks like the time has come"

The end is near for Aphelon as well.
