"Luke what?" Cara almost chokes on her food. We were at my house eating the delicious dinner my mother has made for us. Sometimes I wonder if she wasn't a fashion designer for one of the most famous companies in the world she would be a great chef.
"It's not a big deal, we are just friends." I keep saying but truthfully it hurts. It hurts knowing we are nothing more than that.
"Obviously you still have feelings for him." My best friend reads my mind and suddenly it became very quiet in the kitchen. Not even my mother commented.
"I'm too shy to tell him how I feel. I don't know how I feel myself, but I do know that I'll just leave it at timid smiles and soft hellos. I'm afraid if I ask him "what do you think of me?" His reply would be "I don't."
"Come on Adrianna, he is trying to get his band to come HERE so he can see you." My mother replies and Cara agrees nodding.
"He's all famous and I'm just me." I look down stuttering, it was the truth. It won't ever be like it used to.

I was driving around town with the windows down listening to a mixtape I got for my birthday from Ashton. I never listened to it all because it reminded me of Luke and we were broken up. But today I'm picking Cara up and we are going to DisneyLand.
As I was outside waiting for Cara in her driveway I heard buzzing come from the radio, like something was overriding the mixtape. But then I soon realized it was a transition from a song to someone talking. It was Ashton's voice.
"Hey Adrianna, if you gotten this far in your birthday surprise I just wanted to let you know Luke is right next to me and wanted me to add this song for you. I hope you enjoy, Happy Birthday!"
"Happy Birthday princess I love you, love Lukey!" I gotta admit, Ashton talking made me feel so much better about myself but then when I heard Luke and the song, Chasing Cars made me feel alone on the inside.
I want to scream and I want to cry but I want to eat! Hurry up Cara I want some Mickey Macaroni!

It was getting dark out, the sunset was beautiful. It was just Cara and I and it was honestly amazing. It's been a while since I've felt this way. And it was great.
And then my phone started ringing. The ringtone was obnoxious. I looked it was a FaceTime request with (coincidence I think not), Luke.
"Who's calling?" Cara says stuffing her face and I laugh. "Uhh, Luke?"
"Answer it answer it!" Cara nods fast trying to swallow the food.
"Alright." Oh lord here we go.
As it connected I began to get nervous. "Adrianna? You there?" Luke says seconds after it connects. I look up at Cara in full nervousness and she mouths 'talk, talk!'
"Uh- Hi Luke. What's up?" I bring my phone up to see Luke all smiley which made me smile.
"I just wanted to see your face." He admits and I laugh. "AWWW" Cara screams and I mentally kill myself eight times.
"Who is that?" Luke giggles and I hand Cara my phone. "Luke!!" She says, excitement filled her voice and I sigh in relief. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all.
"Cara, how's it going?" He says and I roll my eyes playfully. "I've been good- here- I'm giving you back to your destined partner in crime."
"Alright?"

After ten minutes of FaceTiming and thankfully having unlimited data, Cara and I decided to end it with him (the call only!!), time to go back to the wonderful park!
"I'll call you soon, Luke!" I smile waving.
"Alright babe, have fun," we hang up and I click my phone shut and smile to myself.
"That was goals." Cara says which makes me blush. "Oh shush, let's go."
