A/N: The book Cassie's reading below is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. I take no credit for the book series. If you haven't read the book series though, I strongly recommend it!
Cassie's POV
Luckily I've managed to avoid Alex for the past two days, and I thought I succeeded in my plan of avoiding him. Whenever I saw him in the hallway, it looked like he had something he wanted to say, but then I would panic and land up running away.
For some reason, though, I constantly saw the gang (except Alex and I) meeting up frequently, and I was suspicious of what they could possibly be up to. Not to mention everytime I saw the girls in the hallway, they would smirk and smile at me as if they knew something I didn't, such weirdos.
I woke up the next day and did my regular routine as normal, not suspecting that there was going to be anything different about today. However, when I was heading to my chemistry class, I found all the girls waiting for me at my locker.
Oh no, this can't be good. Now, I know you all are probably thinking, what's wrong with your friends just wanting to meet you at your locker? Well, they all seemed to be nervously watching me for some reason. The minute I walked up to them, they had timid smiles on their faces.
"Hey, guys. What's up?", I hesitantly asked them, unsure if I wanted to actually know the truth or not.
"Nothing!", they all shrieked at once, as they nervously looked at each other.
"Is it a crime for us to want to see our best friend?", Sophia questioned me.
"No, but you guys are all smiling at me funnily as if you guys know something I don't know...", I replied hesitantly.
"Ww-ee-ll, about that. We do have something to tell you. Take it over, Meg!", Lily said as she shoved Meg in front of the group.
"Why do I have to do it?", Meg whined.
"Fine! I'll tell her", Sophia muttered.
"We may or may not have blurted out that you like Alex...", Sophia quietly responded.
"You what!!!!!!", I shouted at the girls.
They immediately flinched back and took a huge step back away from me, trying to keep a far distance from me as if I was about to attack them. I wouldn't necessarily say I was going to attack them, but I was giving them a murderous glare for a few seconds. That was until what they said fully processed in my head and I asked, "Tell me this is all a joke or something," I pleaded.
"We decided to meet up with the guys so that we could discuss what was going on between you two. We were telling them about how the kiss between you and Jason was nothing and that you actually like Alex, but then we saw Alex. We didn't even know that he was behind them until we saw him walk off. Seriously, we didn't mean for this happen to Cassie. It was a mistake and it just came out and we're so sorry", Lily sincerely explained.
"Besides, in a few years, I think you'll be thanking us when you guys finally get together! You guys have clearly been playing this game for way too long and you both need to fess up your feelings for each other", Sophia added in order to try and reassure me.
"Not to mention, Jax and I made a bet on how long it would take until the two of you get together, so it would be great if you guys get together before the end of the year", Meg nudged me.
"You made a bet on us?", I asked her.
"You know, bet sounds so negative when you say it like that. I would just say that Jax and I were merely making predictions on how long it would take for our friend's love lives to take off. Now that I think about it, that sounded better in my head than saying it outloud", Meg mumbled to herself.
