We followed him in, worried about was going to happen. When I looked in the room, I relaxed a little. Also a stark white room, it contained a long, oval-shaped table; there were no horrible torture devices as I was thinking might fill the room.
Straight ahead through the door sat another young man in his early twenties. This man had a very different air than Talon. He gave off a leader’s spirit, and I instantly guessed he was the commander of this group. He sat taller than the others. The man had dark brownish-black hair and piercing blue eyes. He had broad shoulders and, like Talon, a muscular body. His body suit was practically the same as Talon’s, featuring the same glowing lines and black fabric, except for a small emblem on one side which, I guessed, showed that he was the commander. Another young man sat next to him.
Talon asked for our cards again and then he handed them to the commander. We stood and watched as the man scanned through some sort of information. I studied his facial expressions. He seemed to be taking a cursory glance over the material. He read with no response or emotion, but at least he didn’t appear to have any sort of violently inclined expression on his face.
“These are very impressive,” he said at last, “Which one of you is Sephora?”
“I am,” I replied awkwardly, “… sir.”
“Your card says you have studied numerous sciences, engineering, and programming,” he asked forcefully, nearly cutting her off, “What things are you able to construct and program?”
“I am still learning, but I’m good at tinkering in order to figure things out.”
“Good. And Aris? It looks like you have extensive medical training.”
“Yes, I have been studying anatomy and medical trades for over 8 years,” she answered.
“Perfect. You two will be excellent recruits.”
“Wait a second!” I blurted out, “I’m sorry but, we have no intention of joining.”
“Well then, why are you wasting my time?”
I stumbled a bit at his forceful questions. I took a breath to compose myself and then answered, “Well we got here somehow, and we need to get back home.”
“Well then go,” he answered. He looked like he was starting to get annoyed.
“That’s just it. We don’t really know how we got here and we don’t know how to get home either. We aren’t from this planet… we thought you might be able to help us.”
“I guess that would present an obstacle… we will look into finding a way to send you back. In the mean time, you may stay here if you like, but don’t feel like you are obligated to join. I mean, if you don’t think you’re good enough to join, then no one’s forcing you,” he said raising an eyebrow mockingly.
“Thank you… sir,” I replied grinding my teeth together. I particularly disliked it when someone made me feel like I was too weak to do something. I could do anything a man could do. I had just met him and yet this man’s attitude was already starting to annoy me. It was weird; one moment he seemed cold and disconnected and the next it was as if he was challenging me.
“I will show you to your rooms,” Talon offered.
“I need to speak with you Talon. Rexan will show the both of you to your rooms,” the commander said gesturing to the young man on his right, “He will give you the run down of our schedule and other necessary things.” This young man again appeared to be in his early twenties, which I was starting to find as odd for members of a rebellion group. Where were all the older, experienced members?
Our new group of three swiftly exited the room and headed back to the elevator. As soon as the doors slid shut, Rexan said, “So, what are your names again? I’m not sure if I caught them.”
“I’m Aris…” she replied.
“…And I’m Sephora,” I answered.
“Well it’s really nice to meet you both! It’s always so exciting to have new members. Especially when they are as beautiful as you two!” he said with a cheesy grin.
Rexan had easy going features, with kind, but somewhat mischievous eyes, and blonde hair that was longer than both the commander’s and Talon’s.
Not used to being complimented on my appearance, I blushed slightly and turned my gaze down to the floor. I had to say though, that he was a lot more light hearted and playful that the other members of R.O.N.A. I had met so far. When I brought my eyes back up though, I found his striking blue eyes studying Aris.
“Thank you for the compliment,” Aris said showing off her dazzling smile.
“Forgive me for changing the subject, but what’s up with your commander? He didn’t really seem like he wanted us here,” I asked.
“Oh, Tyzon? He’s just like that. He is very serious about his mission and duties. Don’t mind him. I always tell him he needs to lighten up and have some fun once in a while!” Rexan explained.
“…Tyzon, is that his name?” Sephora asked.
“Yeah, Tyzon and I are siblings… although I must say we are hardly alike at all…” he said, somewhat to himself.
“Oh… sorry. That was rude of me,” I said, blushing.
“No big,” he said with a shrug.
“You are brothers? I never would have guessed!” Aris said surprised.
“Yeah, I am a lot more like our mom, whereas Tyzon is more like our father. I got all the energy my mother has, and Tyzon got the seriousness of my father.”
“Weird… You two don’t really look a thing alike. I mean you have dirty blonde hair, and Tyzon has dark brown… although I guess you do have the same eyes,” she said smiling.
“Well, well you are very observant aren’t you?” Rexan said with a chuckle.
“Well, I’m in the medical field; I have to be observant,” she clarified.
“Ah, that does make sense. Well ladies, we have arrived.”
The elevator doors opened on floor 15, and the three of us stepped out onto the solid floor.
*Tyzon*
“So would you care to explain to me why you promised that those girls would join, and they promptly inform us that they have no intention of doing so?” I asked Talon. We both moved to a small side-room off of the main meeting room.
“Forgive me sir, when I saw their credentials, I was sure they would join.”
“Well then how come you did not inform me that they are not from Zenix?”
“Well, I could tell they weren’t lying when they said they weren’t from here, but curiously enough, both of their cards, under birthplace, said ‘Zenix.’”
My eyes widened slightly with surprise. I didn’t notice that earlier… I thought.
“What is it sir?” Talon asked at my expression.
“Nothing,” I said shaking the thought out of my head, “What are you going to do about this situation now then?”
“I will try my best to persuade them to join us, sir. Their talents could be very well used.”
“I agree. Tomorrow, I’m assigning you, along with Rexan, to escort them around. Show them what we do. Maybe it will influence them to sign up.”
“Yes, sir,” Talon said and then headed to the door.
Just as his fingers touched the knob, I said, “And Talon… I’ve told you, call me by my name.”
“Yes si… I mean, Tyzon.”
