Malina, Blythe, the man and I quickly hefted the unconscious man onto one of the medical beds. While Malina and Blythe got the man settled, I finally turned to the other young man.

“Thank you for your help…” I started to say.

            “Zander,” the young man offered.

“Thank you Zander. Did you by any chance notice any odd symptoms the man here was experiencing?”

“No… I just happened to pass by him as he was falling,” he shrugged with an embarrassed half-frown.

“I see, well thank you for helping him,” I said and smiled. “It was good of you to bring him here. We will do a couple tests to see what happened to him.”

“Hopefully he will be okay,” Zander said quietly.

I could tell that Zander was definitely a shy type. He had stunning pale green eyes and a rich brown hair color. His facial features were soft and kindly, and despite the fact that he was a shy person, he had a tall and broad stature that demanded attention. He was actually really good looking.

“I hope so too.” I said, trying to conceal my worry. I had Blythe check the young man’s name and had her go check to confirm that he was one of the tranquilized members from the attack.

“I will come back later to check on him… if that’s okay…” Zander stated and asked at the same time.

“Of course. We will see you a bit later.”

“Goodbye,” he replied shyly and left the room.

I watched him leave, intrigued by his kind yet awfully timid personality.

Remembering the unconscious man we now needed to attend to, I turned and refocused her attention on him.

Blythe came back holding a card scanning machine. “He is one of them,” she told me, “Does that mean that is was more than a tranquilizer?”

“I think it does… If you two don’t mind staying here, I have something I need to do really quick. I will bring you up to speed later,” I said, “While I’m gone, try to bring him back to consciousness.”

            “Okay, will do,” Blythe answered.

I quickly set up a syringe and took a sample of the young man’s blood and put the whole thing into a medical bag. I hastily made my way back to the lab where I made a slide of the man’s blood. After a couple nonachrons, I found the results I had hoped I wouldn’t find.

Fearing for the man’s safety, I sprinted back to the medical bay and burst through the doors. I hastily glanced up at the clock and realized I had been working for longer than I had thought. In this case, time could make all the difference.

I paced over to Blythe, who was still taking care of the young man.

“Any changes?” I asked while observing the man’s condition.

“No,” Blythe said with a disappointed frown. “Zander just stopped by a bit ago and I had to tell him the same.”

“This is worse than I though…” I mumbled to myself. “Where’s Malina?”
