*Sephora*
The air bay always seemed comforting to me. Something about the lack of people and the silence made me feel more at ease. As I ran my hand over the different vehicles, I admired their glassy black surfaces and sleek designs.
A sudden noise from behind startled me. I turned to see that it was Cecil coming up to me.
“Oh, it’s just you,” I said with a sigh of relief.
“Ouch,” he replied pretending that my comment hurt his feelings.
“Sorry Cecil… I just don’t feel like being around anyone right now… but you’re fine.” My eyes drifted to the floor and I turned away from him.
“You wanna tell me what’s going on with you and Tyzon?” he asked with an almost disapproving face.
“What do you mean?” I said turning to face him again with an astonished look.
“Come on, Sephora. It’s obvious! Every time you and Tyzon are in the same room I can see the tension between you. And when you get mad at him, you end up here.”
I stood silently for a moment before a surge of anger, disappointment, and courage coursed through me.
“I like him Cecil! But he always acts weird around me… One moment he’s nice to me and the other he ignores me and acts like I’m not even there.” My anger gave way and tears began streaming down my face.
“I’m sorry he’s treated you that way… I’m sure it has to do with his past.”
“His past?” I asked curiously.
“I’m not going to tell you. I think it’s better if he tells you himself. Ask him about Nylie when you get a chance.”
“Nylie?”
“I said I’m not telling you. Now come here… You need a hug,” he said and opened his arms out towards me.
Who is Nylie? I wondered as I hugged Cecil, and what does she have to do with Tyzon’s past?
*Tyzon*
I paced back and forth in my office trying to solve the argument between my heart and my head. My head told me not to let Sephora come; it wouldn’t let me forget my prior pain. My heart however, told me that she would probably come even if I told her not to. I stopped abruptly and smiled at the thought. I knew it was true; no matter what she would find a way to follow them.
Suddenly knowing my answer, I walked out of the room with a purpose. I searched the engineering bay, but Sephora was no where to be found. I saw Tyria and decided to ask her.
“Have you seen Sephora?”
“Not for a while… she said she was going to the air bay to think,” Tyria answered.
“Thanks!” I said as I immediately headed back to the elevator. I rode it impatiently until the elevator doors opened at the seventeenth floor. I placed my hand on the air bay scanner and the doors quietly slid open.
As soon as I stepped in, my excitement died. I saw Sephora and Cecil hugging intimately in the back corner of the large room. A stab of hurt pierced my chest. Realizing that the two hadn’t seen me, I instantly exited, filled with regrets and an injured heart.
