*Aris*
As soon as we arrived, Malina was rushed into the emergency medical bay. The people we passed in the halls stared at us with worried glances, whispering as we raced by. The men hefted her unconscious body onto one of the hospital beds and I quickly put an I.V. in her arm, giving Malina a steady supply of Tamine.
Blythe saw the group and rushed up to see what they were doing. When she saw Malina, her face paled and she gasped at the sight. “What happened?” she asked in shock.
I temporarily ignored her question and turned to the others. “Blythe is here to help me now. I’m sorry but I’m going to have to ask the rest of you to step out.”
The others all just nodded and left to sit in a small waiting room outside.
“She got a bad cut on our mission,” I said finally answering Blythe’s question, “but she will be okay if we stitch it up and stop the bleeding.”
“Thank goodness!” Blythe exclaimed with a breath of relief.
“But we’ve got to hurry. Help me out here,” I said motioning to her arm, “I need you lift it slightly so I can remove the makeshift tourniquet.”
“Okay.” We worked together silently and determinedly. Once we freed her arm, Blythe carefully numbed the injured area.
“Alright. We can do this,” I said in order to give myself a confidence boost. I grabbed the tools I needed and got to work, hoping that we hadn’t been too late.

After a little over an hour of waiting in silence, I felt exhausted, but my stomach churned with worry; I had to hope that Malina would be okay. I looked over to Rexan, Tyzon, Talon, and Zander who had all refused to leave the waiting area. Talon looked calm but slightly anxious, while Rexan and Tyzon both sat with thought filled expressions of worry. Zander looked the worst out of them all. He couldn’t sit still; he constantly switched from pacing to sitting and then twirling his fingers to holding his head in his hands.
I thought about Thaeoul’s comments as well. No one knew that Tyzon and I had encountered him. He wants me… and Aris? I thought. I wonder why? It makes no sense. We have nothing to do with him really…
Finally, Aris walked through the double sliding doors into the waiting room. “She’s going to be fine,” she told us, easing the tense atmosphere.
Zander especially looked relieved. “Thank you Aris.” He looked like he was on the verge of a breakdown.
“Of course. She is going to have to rest for a while. I suggest we all get some too. It’s been a long, strenuous day.”
“I agree,” Tyzon said, “Everyone should get some rest.”
“Aris… can I stay here with her?” Zander asked somewhat shyly.
“I guess… but it would be better for you to rest in bed.”
“I’ll be fine. I can sleep in the chair.”
“Okay then…”
The other three guys left, while Zander went in to be with Malina. I lingered for a bit longer.
“You gonna come Aris?” I asked.
Aris looked back into the room. I could see her looking at Blythe sitting at Malina’s side. “Yeah. Just let me tell Blythe.”
I watched Aris walk back in, say something to Blythe, who waved it off, and then Aris came back into the waiting room.
“What a weird day…” Aris said.
