Lena's alarm clock cut into her dream she was having about talking cupcakes. Hmm... why are my dreams getting weirder by the day? Oh, whatever.
She got out of bed yawning, a bad taste in her mouth. Going into the bathroom to get some water, Lena noticed that her hair was sticking out in every direction. Lena had hair that went down a little past her shoulders, dirty blonde. She wrinkled her nose and ran her fingers through it, opened her hazel eyes wide, pulled her gray booty shorts down a but, and went downstairs.
"Hi, honey." Michaela, her mom said, coming downstairs in an old pink bathrobe. She had wavy brown hair that went down to the middle of her back, and at the moment it was soaking wet. Her eyes were hazel, like Lena'a.
"Hi." Lena said, pulling a book out from under a pile of newspapers and reading where she left off.
"Come on, talk to me..."
"I'm busy." Lena retorted after realizing her mother was talking to her.
"Fine, fine... I'll just make some coffee."
"You do that." Lena said, turning the page. Once she finished her cereal she kept on reading, unaware of the time.
"LENA! We have to leave in five minutes- quick! Get dressed!" Michaela's frantic voice stopped her from reading any further.
"Okay, I'm going, I'm going..." Lena got up to go upstairs when Michaela asked her,
"Aren't you forgetting something?"
"I don't believe I am."
"Yes, actually, you are."
"What?"
"Lena, you're going to be late! Just put the dish away already!" Michaela snapped.
"Oooh, that's what you meant!" Lena said, trying to be annoying. She put the bowl in the sink and went upstairs to get dressed and ready for school.
Once she had her clothes on and didn't look completely insane, she noticed there was a reminder beeping on her computer... huh? Going over to it, she read the little screen that popped up: Carpool day!
"LEEENNNAAA! LET'S GOOO!"
A couple of honks came in the couple seconds it took Lena to x the window out. She had forgotten... again. As usual. She was bringing Pacifica, one of her friends to school today. Lena ran down the stairs, tripping over her feet and nearly breaking her ankles.
She jammed her feet into shoes, ran back upstairs to grab her backpack, ran back downstairs, and slammed the door behind her.
Once she was strapped in the car next to Pacifica, Michaela started the car, then asked: "Did you remember your phone? I need to know when you're coming home."
"Uhh... I forgot it." Lena said sheepishly.
"Oh my god! Lena, Lena, LENA! Go get it, quick!"
Lena unclipped her key from inside her backpack, unstrapped herself, and ran up the steps. It took her a while to actually get the key inside the lock because it was slipping around a lot.
She ran into her room and unplugged the phone from her charger.
Slamming the door for one final time, she jumped in the car. When Lena jumped in, she slammed into Pacifica not very gracefully.
"Smooth." Pacifica commented. Pacifica was short for her age, 13, with straight black hair down to her butt, slightly tanner skin than Lena's, and huge bright blue eyes. She also happened to be one of Lena'a best friends, and one of the most popular girls at her school.
