Lena
It had started to rain, just a little bit harder than misting, and they were all huddled together, shivering. Lena had never particularly liked camping. It had always started to rain or snow or she would fall out of a tree or the campsite’s port-a-potties would be broken (that had been a particularly horrible time for Lena, not being completely into peeing in the woods in the middle of the night). Quite horribly annoying, unfortunately. So Lena had hoped that Vampire camping might be different.
Unfortunately, it turned out that it seemed to be about the same level of misery.
Phelicia, who was serving as their makeshift campfire, was sitting in the middle of the tent, preening her feathers and letting off heat. But, still, it didn’t help a lot.
“Hayley, I thought your Power was with water!” Quoim complained, “Can’t you do something about this...” She gestured wildly around her, “This... miserable wetness?”
“Hey, I’m pretty sure other people’s tents are leaking. At least I fixed that for us.” Hayley replied. As if on cue, a tiny drop of water landed on Quoim’s head.
“That was purposeful!” Quoim glowered at her.
“What? What was?” Hayley asked innocently, and let a steady stream of water pour on Quoim’s head.
“You...!” They all burst out laughing at Quoim.
“Hey!” A short girl with bright green eyes, freckles, and blonde hair with blue streaks poked her head in, “It’s your time for watch!”
“Magiiiiiie... We’re like, best friends until the end of the universe!” Paige moaned, “Can you just go get the next people? It’s wet outside!”
“That’s a good observation, I did happen to get wet in the rain and didn’t actually jump in a lake or something. You still have to do your shift.”
“The tent says he would rather we stay here.” Paige told her.
“Well, the good news for the tent is that he doesn’t have to come! You have to come, and I say it you don’t get out right now, I’m going to undo your tent poles and it will blow away.”
“We’re getting out!” Paige scrambled into the rain. It was starting to rain even harder now.
“Stay, Phelicia.” Lena instructed firmly. The phoenix was smart enough to not want to get out of the tent even without Lena telling her not to.
They all headed out into the rain. It made a soft pattering noise on the dropped needles of the trees around them, and every so often a big drop would spill from high above the ground on a branch and land with a bit of a louder plop.
Lena sat under a big pine tree, her back pressed up the rough and slightly damp trunk. Quoim, Hayley, and Paige were all close by, but not close enough to talk to. It was a bit boring, and it was definetly quite a miserable, damp cold.
She stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket and pulled the hood up, even though she knew her hair would be all messed up once she took the hood off again.
She yawned and tried to see out into the darkness, but there wasn’t much of anything to see. This was quite boring.
Calista
Calista was settling into a routine by now. She was woken by a bell and hopped out of bed, her feet landing on the freezing cold stone floor. She proceeded to wish she had super thick fuzzy socks and hopped around, putting on her uncomfortably cold uniform, washing her face and brushing her hair. Once she was dressed, she headed out into the hallway to make her way to the kitchens, where she hoped there wouldn’t be too much peeling around lunch and dinner time because that was one thing about cooking that she absolutely, completely loathed.
Today, as she walked down the hallway, the bright morning light filtering in through the windows, she realized that she had walked down this hallway before. It wasn’t like she had walked down the hallway the day before, but she had walked down it in the future, where she had come from. She walked down it almost every day… At Half Moon.
She knew that something about the castle had seemed familiar. Silver caught up to her and walked besides her for a few minutes before they had to split off and go their separate ways, “Hey! How are you doing today?”
“I’m okay… How long have I been here? Do you know?” Calista asked, suddenly remembering her promise to Lena and Quoim.
“Two or three weeks… Maybe more. Why?” Silver questioned her.
“No particular reason, just wondering.” Calista smiled at her, “How are you?”
“I’m okay. I guess. I miss my parents a bit though.” Silver smiled sadly, “It doesn’t matter. I’ll be fine. I have to go now, see you later!”
