As soon as Lena and Calista walked in the door, they noticed that the temperature had gone down to freezing. The bodies of dead animals also happened to be strewn across the room randomly.
Lena groaned and walked to the corner of the room. Without hesitation, she climbed up the ladder, and started talking when she got into the new room.
“Okay… That was rude.” Phelicia coughed up a fireball that flared up, singeing Rella and Misha’s hair in the process. Lena then climbed down and Phelicia proceeded to quickly warm the room up. A couple hours later, the trapdoor was nailed shut and they had fallen asleep.
The next few weeks weren’t a blast. Their roommates were making their room horrible, Calista was taking every advantage to remind Lena that she should be in the Past, and Quoim looked very annoyed every time someone else was asked to the Moon dance.
They had a perfect plan, at least according to Lena. Quoim would attach a Tracker Shadow to Calista, so when Calista went back in Time, she could see what Calista was doing, and Lena would already be able to See what Calista was doing. But since they weren’t sure if Lena could See that far back in Time, Lena would be able to See where Calista was through the Tracker Shadow, too. But now two weeks was up, and Calista was getting impatient about Lena trying to keep her in their Time zone longer and longer. Finally, Calista told Lena one day when no one was around but them,
“If I am cooped up here one minute longer, I will kill myself. I need to get out. I need to go back in Time, now. I can’t be the reason that you’re dead!”
“We don’t even know if this is a good idea! I don’t think you should do it.”
“I actually don’t really care, I’m going.”
“You could die! We don’t know how you’ll come back! If you die in the Past, what happens to Present you?”
“I’m going.”
“Fine. Now?”
“Nice to know that you’ve got some sense. Yes. Now.”
“Promise you’ll be back in two weeks?”
“Okay.” Calista hugged Lena, “Don’t worry. I’ll be fine! Bye! And say bye to Quoim and Talla for me!”
“Okay... I’ll miss you!”
“The same to you!” Calista wiped under her eyes quickly, “I’ll be fine. See you soon!” She grabbed onto Decia’s fur, closed her eyes, and was gone.
“Shit.” Lena said miserably. Quoim had never put the Shadow Tracker on her.

“I got asked! I win, you owe me buying me extra clothes from the catalog! I got asked to the dance!” After a couple seconds of no reply, Quoim walked into the room.
“She’s gone.” Lena said in a hollow voice, “And we never got the Tracker on her.”
“No...”
“Yes. She said she really needed to get out and back in Time, and I let her, and we weren’t thinking, and she just... left.”
“Oh. At least we have an excuse. Let’s say she went home early for Holidays. Holiday break starts in a day anyway, and the dance will start a week after break ends, and break is two weeks. Will you come to my house? She’ll be back soon.”
“Yeah. I guess.”
“Let’s get packing. Tomorrow’s just really... a day to go home. No classes. I love break!”
Lena threw a bunch of things randomly into her school bag, and then shoved it under her bed. She ordered a box of chocolates and a pint of vanilla ice cream to dip them in, and climbed back into bed when they arrived.
