Martin was lost in thought as they made their way through the forest. He wanted to enjoy his time in the woods but too many reasons otherwise wouldn't allow it. Still, he admired the trees, the plants and the occasional wild critter they ran across. As he turned to the sound of a squirrel bolting up a tree, he spotted a man who looked to be sneaking up on something. Not to cause alarm, he continued to walk as if nothing was wrong. He kept his eye on the man the best he could without making any sudden movements. With the vast amount of trees it made it difficult for him to tell what the man was after. Just before he was out of sight he saw the man pull his sword and point it at what looked to be a person.
Once they walked far enough out of view of the stranger, Martin turned to Solana.
"Did you see that? That man?" He whispered.
With a look of anger in her eyes, she replied. "Yeah, I saw him, and I also saw a woman poke her head up a moment before. I think he planned on killing her and I can not let that happen."
Without saying anything else Solana took off through the trees. Martin was about to ask her where she was going, but she had already vanished.
"What's going on?" Asked Mien.
"Wait here, I will explain when I return." Martin said then took off after Solana.
"But but..." Mien pleaded, then sighed.
Martin looked everywhere for Solana but she was no where to be seen. It hadn't rained for days, so the forest floor was too dry and solid to spot any tracks. He tried to look for anything disturbed or broken but didn't spot anything. Well, that is just great, he thought as he scanned the area for a clue that might tell him in which direction she went. All of the trees were huge in comparison to most trees he had ever seen. Even though they were spread out a good distance they were big enough to limit the view to a few hundred feet. It made it easy for someone to disappear if they wanted or ambush you without warning.
Martin decided it was best if he headed back to wait with Mien. Besides, he knew that Solana was in her element and could easily take care of herself. It still bothered him to feel helpless though. Even if he didn't know the woman the man was after he wanted to still help her. What could he have done otherwise, he thought. He would of probably got in the way or caused more harm than good. If only I could use my power I would be able to help, he mumbled. Just then Martin felt a breeze wash over him.
The wind began to howl as it sent a shiver up his spine. He looked up at the branches and noticed they weren't moving. Wait, that is strange he told himself as another shiver shot through him. Right then he heard a soft whisper as a gust of air blew by. It was so soft that he didn't quite catch what it said. It sounded like, I am sky. Then he heard it again through another gust of air.
"I am Skye, can you hear me?" The soft voice spoke.
Normally Martin would of tucked tail and run for his dear life, not ever looking back. But after everything he has found out about this world and who he is suppose to be this was no shock. Plus, this was close to the same scenario he had at his campfire a few days ago.
As before he whispered. "Yes, I can hear you, who are you?"
A small whirlwind of air the size of a pine cone appeared and spun a few feet away from where Martin stood. Then it moved in closer and Martin could feel the heavy breeze radiating from the small funnel.
With an airy rasp sounding voice it spoke. "Hello Martin, I am Skye, you called?"
A little confused Martin asked. "What do you mean I called? How did I call you? What are you?"
