Martin made his way through the woods towards the portal not far from Adals home. As he did, he did his best to stay off any paths or trails so as not to be seen. Scanning the woods carefully as he traveled through the forest, he spotted what he thought to be horses off in the distance. Seeing that they were heading in his direction he quickly crouched down behind a tree and waited for them to pass by. He was glad it was dark enough that he could hide in the shadows unseen. Since the moonlight was only shining through certain areas of the forest there would be no way for whoever it was to spot him. As the horses got closer Martin saw that it was Adal and Azura.

"Azura, Adal." He called out as he stepped out from beyond the tree. "Thank goodness I found you guys."

"Martin! You're alive!" Azura said excitedly as she smiled, then rushed up and hugged him.

A smile of his own found its way to his lips as he hugged her back.

Adal grinned. "Good to see you again, my boy. Where have you been?"

"It's a long story." Martin said as he turned to Adal. "I will tell you about it, but first I need your help. Solana is in grave danger and time is against her."

"What do you mean, my boy? What's Wrong?"

"I rescued her from the man who bought her, but now she has what they're calling the fever."

"The fever? What type of fever? Don't tell me its from feverbats?" Adal replied with concern in his eyes.

"I am afraid so. We were attacked by giant bats on the outskirts of Feverbrook. When they attacked the caravan that was leading her away from the town I made my move on rescuing her. But in the process one of the bats had sliced her in the back."

"Where is she now?" Asked Azura clearly concerned.

"I left her with a priest in Feverbrook. He's a man named Ofaris who works out of his home. I met an older couple who took me to him. They told me he works discreetly and she should be safe there. The problem is when I went back to check on her there were soldiers outside the building. I am hoping they don't find her before I return."

"I know this man." Adal proclaimed. "He will keep her safe my boy. The soldiers were probably there to collect taxes and they usually don't go inside."

Martin sighed. "That's good to know."

"We have bigger concerns." Azura stated. "Unless someone has found a cure since I had been cursed there is no way of saving her from the fever."

They both looked to Adal and waited anticipating his response.

Adal's face turned grim. "I am sorry. There still hasn't been any findings on a cure. I don't know what we can do my boy."

"I don't know if it will work, but I have an idea." Martin said while staring at the ground.

"What is it?" Asked Azura.

"I think if I go back to my old world, I might find some medicine there, that could possibly cure her. But I wouldn't know what to look for. I had a thought. Maybe you guys can't see the portal, but that doesn't mean you can't go through it. What if you follow me as I go through? Do you think that would work?"

"I am not certain of anything dealing with the passages between worlds." Adal said rubbing his chin. "What you're saying might actually work. I am willing to try. But just so you know. When dealing with anything magical there can be fatal consequences if used incorrectly."

Without hesitation Azura said. "Me too. I am willing to try if it might save a friend's life."

Martin thought for a moment, then nodded his head. "Okay. It is settled then. Let's go."
