The next morning, Martin awakens, a little stiff from lying on the hard cold ground in the cave. He stretched as he scanned the room looking for Adal, but doesn't see him anywhere. Where is Adal, he thought to himself. Slightly concerned, Martin checked to see if his knife was still at his side. Still finding it there, he quickly gathered his strength and got to his feet. Being six feet tall he has to hunch over just to walk around. He decides to check the kettle to see if there is any soup left from last night. Spotting some soup still in the kettle, he grabbed a bowl and filled it, thankfully it was still warm. While feeding his mouth some soup, he noticed that Adal's tomes and scrolls were missing. Hmm, that is strange he thought. Wonder where Adal is off to and why would he take his life's work with him? Is he not coming back, Martin wondered? Just then Adal came around the corner, took one look at Martin, slung his arms out and shouted.

"THEIF!, DON'T MOVE OR I WILL INCINERATE YOU!"

Martin froze, not knowing what to do or if he should even speak.

After about a minute of silence, Adal burst out laughing."HAHAHAHAHA, man you are too easy Martin. I got you again. Did you shit yourself?"

"That is not funny, you scared the hell out of me." Martin said with a sigh of relief. "I might just have to check to make sure I didn't."

Adal headed over to the table giggling the whole way.

"So what have you decided about what we discussed last night?" Martin asked.

Adal looked up at Martin and said, "I thought it over, it may not be a long journey but it will be a difficult one. I know you want to go and see for yourself, but I also know it will not change anything. Since it means so much to you, I will make you a deal."

"What's the deal?" Martin asked curiously.

"If I take you to see her, then you have to show me where you came through the portal."

"Fair enough", Martin said with a smile. "I can do that. By the way, where are all your books and scrolls?" Martin asked, while kneeling down to give his back a break from hunching.

"Right where they were yesterday." Adal proclaims.

Martin looked again a little puzzled. "I don't see them."

"Of course you won't see them, they are hidden by magic, my boy."

Hearing Adal say my boy all the time reminded Martin of his grandfather. Martin missed him so much. Lost in thought for a moment, Martin didn't hear Adal say its time to go. After Adal repeated himself, the two of them headed out of the cave. When they reached the end of the tunnel and stepped out into the open air, Martin was relieved to finally be able to stand up straight. He wanted to go out last night, but it wasn't safe with Lord Ragoul's army lurking about nearby.

"Here, you get to carry this small satchel." Adal said not looking at Martin.

"What is it?" Martin asked.

"Just a few things to nibble on and some herbs." Adal replied.

As Adal lead them west, away from the town of Nettles towards Fever Brook, Martins curiosity started to get the better of him. Martin began waving his arms and hands and mumbling words.

"What the hell are you doing?" Adal asked with an ignorant look.

"I am trying to cast magic." Martin replied.

Adal shook his head. "Wow, you truly are an idiot. You look like a dang fool trying to fly." Adal said, trying not to laugh. "Listen, I do not know how to teach you, only another Necron can do that. But I can tell you this, it isn't that easy. In time you will figure it out, but for now just leave the magic to me. OK?"
