"This is the saddest book I've ever read," you say quietly, wiping your eyes. They were too watery for your taste. "But it was also the best."

"Are you crying?" Niall asks, smirking.

"No, my eyes.. Um."

"You're crying! Or, you were crying."

"Well, I'd like to see you read this book and not tear up," you say, holding it up and pointing to the title.

"'The Fault in Our Stars.' What's it about?" he asks, sitting next to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders.

You immediately relax at his touch, and you sink into his side, gently laying your head on his shoulder. "It's about cancer, Niall."

"And someone dies?"

"Yes," your voice cracks.

"Hey, it's okay. It's not real, angel, it's not real," he hushes you.

"Yes it is! Niall, cancer is part of real life, too. It doesn't just happen in the books."

"I know, I know."

"They were in love," you whisper. "They were so in love, and then.." you trail off, and sniffle into his shirt.

After a few minutes, you sit up. "I have an idea." You look up at Niall, and he perks up as you go on. "Would you and the boys be willing to go see kids with cancer at the hospital? With me? They'd love it."

"Of course," he says, kissing your forehead.

"It just scares me," you admit. "It scares me that these kids just live their short lives worrying about death, you know? The disease is, like, pushing their bodies. And they have no control over it." Your eyes meet Niall's. "and the worst part is, it could happen to anyone."
