ch. 3 - pirates are better than bandits
-----
One year later
"Luffy! What are you doing up there? Get down before you hurt yourself!" I shouted at the top of my lungs as I cranked my head upwards.
The ship's crew gathered around as they all went to see what the ruckus was all about. I can hear some murmurs from the people around me as they start to ask questions as to who the little boy standing on top of the bowsprit and why he's there.
"Oi! What are you doing, Luffy?" one of the pirates shouted. I looked at Luffy once again, my anxiety of him falling into the depths of the sea increasing.
"Hmph! I'm not joking this time! I've had enough! I'll prove it for you all to see!" Luffy shouted as he held up a dagger of some sort.
I squinted my eyes to make sure that I'm not seeing things. Oh no. Is he going to do something stupid again? That idiot! How many times have I lectured him that Shanks won't recruit him no matter what he does to impress him? My eyes widened at him and let out a groan. I started making my way towards Luffy so that I can bring him down and give him a good whack on that stupid head of his.
"Ha Ha Ha! Go for it! Let's see what you're going to do!" someone shouted from the crowd. I whipped my head at the man and said, "Don't encourage him! Who knows what he'll do this time!" I told him.
"Luffy is going to do something funny again," another man said. I let out a deep sigh as I tried my best to keep my patience in check. It probably won't end well if I lash out my frustration at the crew that I have spent more than a year with as they encourage a stupid kid in doing something dangerous. Again. Out of the blue, I heard Luffy let out a loud grunt as he stabbed himself. What the actual freak?
My eyes widened; my heartbeat quickened. The surprised shrieks of the people around me suddenly blurred into the background as the only thing I heard were my footsteps that were running across the deck of the ship. I could feel strands of my platinum blonde hair stinging my face like sharp blades of grass as I rushed towards Luffy. He let out a loud, piercing shout of agony as I took the blade out of his hands and tossed it out to the ocean below us. I grabbed the collars of his shirt and dragged his whiny self down.
"I swear, Luffy, that I am going to kill you once Shanks kills you," I said to him as I grabbed his hand and proceeded to go to the bar. "As if you can kill me, Keira! The future King of Pirates will not be easily killed," joyful pride laced in his tone. I just rolled my eyes at him and mumbled, "Future King of Pirates, my butt. You don't even know how to swim."
"I heard that!" he said to me as I continued to drag him towards the bar where Aunt Makino, the bar owner, was.
"Aunt Makino! Luffy did something stupid and got himself hurt! Again!" I said to her as I rummaged through her cabinets, looking for a first aid kit or any medical supplies lying around. I told Luffy to sit on one of the stools near the bar counter, protesting to what I said but followed my orders anyway.
