It's been four months since I last saw Harry, and I think it's safe to say that I miss him dearly.
Thankfully though, he calls and texts me whenever he can, so I guess it's not like I've lost him completely.
Lately, I haven't been doing much of anything besides working, catching up on TV shows, reading, and treating myself to nice warm bubble baths once in a while.
When I woke up today, I wasn't expecting it to be anything out of the ordinary routine that I had going.
I pulled back the covers and blindly patted around for my phone. I probably could have found it sooner if my eyelids didn't keep shutting every 2 seconds.
I finally found it, and held it up to my face, squinting to see the screen.
New message from Harry:
"Good morning beautiful, have a lovely day. I'll text you when I can. Miss you. xx"
He really knew how to put a smile on my face, "Good morning :) Hope you have a nice day too. Can't wait to see you."
I walked over to Harry's wardrobe and looked through his shirts for something to wear. I found a cute button down top that managed to cover my bum and sit mid thigh. I rolled up the sleeves and did the buttons, before I stepped out of Harry's room and made my way down to the basement to pick up where I left off with the laundry yesterday.
After loading up the washing machine, I folded the clothes I hung to dry last night and set them neatly into an empty laundry basket while quietly humming to myself.
I picked up the basket, and headed back upstairs to put the clothes away when the door bell rang.
Probable just the mail man.
I grabbed the handle and swung it open.
It definitely was not the mail man...
I was not expecting this. Blood rushed to my face forcing me to blush. Here I was standing before his mom and sister in nothing but Harry's button down top with my hair probably looking like a hot mess. God, I was so embarrassed. This undeniably was not how I wanted to make my first impression on them.
"Hi ! You must be Emma. I hope we didn't come at a bad time," Harry's mother greeted.
"Hi," I said with a smile, "And, not at all I was just doing laundry, come in!" I moved to the side allowing them to pass through, "I'm sorry for looking like a complete mess, I really wasn't expecting anyone, but I guess that shouldn't be an excuse right?," I said sheepishly.
"Oh, don't worry about it!" his mom smiled, "I guess you figured this out already but I'm Anne, Harry's mom, and this is Gemma, his sister."
"It's a pleasure to meet you both," I held out my hand and shook each of theirs.
"I made some cookies this morning, and I thought Id bring you some. Harry told us that you had been staying here alone so we wanted to check on you and see how you were holding up," Anne replied, handing me the plate of cookies.
I can't believe his sister and mom came all the way here to see how I was doing. Harry probably told them about me, and the fact that they wanted to check in on me already told me that they were such sweet people.
I smiled, "Thank you so much, that's very sweet of you! Why don't I make us some tea?"
Anne and Gemma took a seat down on the living room couch, "We would love some tea," Gemma chimed in.
"Great! I'll only be a second," I said with a smile before walking into the kitchen to make the tea.
I filled three cups with tea and set them on a tray along with the cookies before I headed back over into the living room.
I handed Gemma and Anne each a cup before I sat across from them with my own cup nested between my palms.
"I honestly don't know how you guys can do it."
"It's really tough, I get it," Anne began with a hint of sadness in her voice, "trust me, I was a mess when he first went away on tour a few years back. You just have to keep reminding yourself that he's out there happy. He's doing what he loves, and that's all that matters."
"When I really miss him, I like to think about all the funny moments we had. That way, I don't feel as sad anymore," Gemma shared, "and usually, I think about how much of a goofball he was when he was little. That really makes me laugh."
Anne and I giggled. Gemma had such a fun personality, it would be awesome to hang out.
"Do you have any funny moments you'd like to share with me? I'd love a good story right about now," I asked her with a grin. Gemma smiled back wide,
"You bet I do! I've got embarrassing ones too!"
I laughed even harder, shifting in my seat to get comfortable for the embarrassing stories I was about to hear.
Gemma, Anne, and I talked for over an hour and a half. There were moments where we were crying from laughing so hard.
I really needed this. Sitting here drinking tea and bonding with his mom and sister made my morning. I'm glad they came to see me. Plus, I'm glad I got to learn more about Harry.
"Emma, it was so nice to meet you. I hope we didn't take too much of your time. I can see why Harry likes you hun. You truly are good for him," Anne said as she got up, pulling her purse strap up to her shoulder.
That was so heartwarming, especially since it came from his mom.
"You're so sweet, thank you for coming by, honestly. And dont worry, you didn't take up any of my time. I had a lot of fun. It was great meeting you both," I exclaimed as I gave them each a hug.
"We should hang out some time. Get coffee or something," Gemma suggested.
"Yeah sure, that sounds good. Just text me whenever you are free," I said as we exchanged numbers.
"Awesome!" She replied.
"Thanks for the tea darling," Anne said as they made their way to the door.
"Of course! You two should come by more often for tea," I said with a light laugh.
They both smiled and agreed, taking me up on my offer as we said our goodbyes.
I shut the door behind them and headed back into the kitchen to get the laundry basket I was carrying ealier. I picked it up and made my way upstairs to put all the clothes away.
Once I was finished, I grabbed up my phone and texted Harry.
"Hey! Hope your day is going well. Your mom and sister stopped by. They're so lovely."
Five minutes later he responded, "I should have known they'd stop by. How did it go?"
"It went pretty well. I was kind of nervous at first though, because I was in only one of your button down tops, but they didn't mind. I think they liked me" I replied.
This caught his attention, "mmm I bet you look good ;) xx"
"Too bad you aren't here too see ;P" I teased.
"I've got a surprise for you."
"Really? What?"
"I have to get on stage now love, I'll call you when I'm off. You'll just have to wait ;) x"
Look at who was being the tease now.
And, a surprise?
What on earth did this boy have in mind.
