Twenty One: Barley Alive

Dani's POV

An enemy who could be anyone will surely set a riot with the lost boys, I can see the tension with just our little group beginning to build.

"Are we not going to warn the others?" Rufio asked.

"Are you mad? They'll kill each other." I answered eyeing Danny wearily. "Where's Aeris, Devin?"

"I don't know. I woke up in some cage, there was someone keeping me there, watching me."

"You didn't see it's face?" Pan questions.

Devin looked up at us with pure fear in his eyes. "That's the thing...it had no face."

With that Peter tilted his head to the side with an arched brow, meaning he knew something.
I meant to call him out but Pan grabbed my arm dragging me away from the group. James motioned to go after us but Rufio held him back.

"You know what it is." I state.

"I do," Peter nods, "do you remember the organism that whisked our newborn daughter away from Neverland that particular night?"

I clench my jaw tight thinking of the memory, not bothering to answer. Peter already knows that I know what he's talking about. The bloody thing wouldn't even let me hold my baby, not to mention the baby's father either. "I don't understand - Didn't it die when you died?"

"Well it seems the spell to just bring me back worked far too well. Who knows what other fowl creatures resurrected? We need to leave Neverland." There was a time when I would've loved to leave this dreadful prison with Peter but now I'm not so sure.

"We can't leave."

"We can't stay either. I've had my over share of enemies, many of which I got rid of here..permanently." Pan's hands cupped my cheeks softly. "I have to protect the one thing I can't live without and that's you, Dani."

"I can't leave Peter."

"Because of the dreamshade? Adam found a way. I promise you, we will to."

"Because of our daughter."

"If we leave I will be more than willing to reproduce more children with you but that won't be possible if we die." Basically he's saying forget our daughter we can always make more. I step back out of his embrace with a disgusted expression.

"She is my child and I am getting her back, with or without you. If you want to leave then leave."

Not like it mattes time's almost out. The heart of the truest believer must be given to Pan, like before, that was the deal I made with the shadows. No heart equals no life and all of this would have been for nothing.

I return to Rufio, James, and Devin,  most likely  appearing frustrated because neither of the boys spoke upon my regrouping. "What's that plan boys?"

"Pretty simple, we find the false Devin's location and kick his ass." Rufio answers with an accomplished smile.

"First we get Aeris  to safety." I say.

"We're gonna need my brother for that." James makes a clear point. Adam does protect Aeris well.

"Why on earth would we need him for that?" Peter question rejoining us.
