Chapter 2
The paper lanterns lit up the Square, the center of the village. Larissa danced to the music with a boy as I watched. The way they swayed was exactly to the beat of the music that the band was playing.
I didn't even bother to change into something nice. I wan't a princess. In fact, the total opposite.
I decided to run into the woods, sitting down leaning against a tree. The night sky was a gloomy dark color, the stars blocked from the clouds. The starts reminded me of myself, and how the clouds were in the way of why my birth parents abandoned me. The clouds represented my thoughts, all of my questions that I wanted answered. But I couldn't see them, not at all, my thoughts were too big to even be seen, much more than to even be answered.
I soon felt my eyes grow heavy, and my vision soon turn dark.
*********
I can see her face, she's beautiful, angelic almost. She's happy. They are dancing. I can see the boy twirling her around, love clearly shown through his eyes. His eyes are a bright green color. The way he looks at the girl is... I'm not so sure, it's just pure love. But all I know is that I can't even describe how much he loves her.
Without warning, everything changes. So much pain and agony. The girl lets out a horrifying scream as she lays down in a bed, tears slipping from her eyes. She grasps the boy's hand so hard, her knuckles begin to turn white. I could feel everything, her pain as she screams louder than anything. After a few moments, the boy holds onto the crying little baby. The girl cries out to him.
She wants to hold the child.
He gives in, sitting down next to her as she kisses the baby's head. The world starts to shake, like an earthquake almost. She clutches onto the baby, tears escaping her eyes. The boy mutters something as the girl lets go of the baby, handing it back to him.
The only thing the girl manages to say is,
"Goodbye Aeris."
And the only thing the boy says to the baby as he holds the baby close to his chest, his eyes full of tears, just threatening to spill out,
"I will find you, Aeris, I promise."
*********
I sit up, letting out a loud scream, sweat running down my forehead. I pant heavily, realizing what had just happened.
I take in my surrounding, seeing my room, my bed, my everything.
"Aeris what's wrong?!" Father barges in my room, a worried look on his face.
"J-Just a nightmare. That's all." I shutter, getting out of my bed.
"With the boy and girl?" He asks
I simply nod, gathering my bow and arrow before he has the chance to comfort me. I throw on my jacket, heading outside into the forest.
The cold air feels good against my burning body. In the sky, the stars shine bright, the clouds all gone. Just like all of my questions. Some clouds still remain. Some questions. Why did my parents send me away? Did my father ever keep his promise? Will he? Who are they? Where are they? Are they dead? Did my mother die while giving birth to me? All of these questions race through my mind.
A rustling in the bushes makes me seize my thoughts, standing up, grabbing out my bow and arrow, ready to shoot.
"Who's there?" I demand, looking around at my surroundings.
No answer. I storm to where the noise was coning from to have a black wolf jump out at me, knocking me down. It's giant paws slam down next to both of sides of my head. It's teeth snarled in my face.
"Larissa! It's me, Aeris!" I cry, realizing who the wolf is.
The wolf gets off of me, whimpering.
"It's alright. You didn't know." I sadly smile, sitting up against a tree, stroking her dark fur.
"Hey! Get away from her!" I can hear a sword slide out of it's stealth.
I propped up just as Larissa runs away, glaring at the muscular brunette boy.
"You alright?" The boy extends his hand, trying to help me up.
"Why the hell did you do that?" I shout, swatting his hand away and getting up on my own.
"Sorry for trying to protect you." The boy grumbled.
"I don't need protection," I snap, scanning for Larissa. But the she wolf is long gone. "Great! You scared her off!"
"Normally people are grateful when they are saved from a giant viscous wolf. I'm Adam." The boy stammers.
"Oh, my apologizes, is this the part where i'm supposed to kiss you?" I rolled my eyes, grabbing my bow and arrow, turning to walk away from him.
"I never caught your name." Adam snickered.
I turn to face him, shooting him an evil smirk. "Oh, did I forget to introduce myself?" I frown a bit, mocking him. My expression turns back to the smirk. "The name's Aeris."
"Pleasure to meet you Aeris." He shoots me the same exact smirk, mocking me. "See you around."
Adam's POV
I stormed back into the old, shabby warehouse, which smelled of sweat and blood. My brother, James, was wrestling with Kyle, who got distracted when he saw me.
"Well, look who's back." Kyle snickered.
James took the opportunity to throw Kyle on his back and punching him in the face. "Point for me," James smiled, clutching his fists, wiping the red liquid off of his face. I hate the color red.
"Dirty hit." Kyle grumbled, applying pressure to his bloody nose.
"This isn't Neverland anymore boys. We can't just hurt each other here. We can't heal automatically." I say, plopping myself down on my hard bed.
"But all is fair in war, Adam," James points out.
I sigh. "It's true. Pan taught us that."
"And look at what that gave us." Kyle gestured our dirty warehouse, causing James to be thrown off guard by his comment.
"Nevermind about that. Pan is still in Neverland, awaiting for us to make his precious daughter believe." James said, taking off his bloodstained shirt and throwing on a black one.
"Speaking of the girl, inform us about the beauty," Kyle motions for me to talk.
"The wolf wouldn't help. She didn't swoon over me like you said she would. She used the same sentence as Pan, 'Oh, did I forget to introduce myself?' That one. Almost as if she quoted him." I explain. "And she was full of sass, too."
"Well, she is Pan's daughter, being in distress isn't her nature, especially if Robin Hood is her adoptive father." James pointed out, making me nod. I was smart, but he was the smarter one out of the two of us.
"If she's too much of a challenge, then I can handle her," Kyle smirked, patting my chest.
"I can handle Aeris." I growl.
"Good. You need her in order to succeed." The dark Shadow swooped down into the warehouse.
"Trust me, she'll get around." I state to the Shadow.
"Pan is growing curious. Are you sure?" The Shadow flies around us dangerously.
"We have all if the information she wants, like why these dreams that you've cursed on her keep happening." I snap, "Just tell Pan not to fret. We will get her."
