Chapter 25 - Tonight

Soo-Ri's POV
I woke up in my bed. It must have been Kai.

I got up and stretched my arms and legs. Then I went for a shower, to refreshen up.

As I got done... I went downstairs, until I saw Kai, talking on the phone.

"Yes, I'll be waiting."

What is this about? I thought.

"Yeah, I got it, Hyung."

Then they hung up.

I walked downstairs and Kai noticed me.

"Oh, you're awake." he said.

I nodded and grabbed some bread and put them in the toaster.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked.

I nodded. "Ne."

My toast was done and I grabbed them and put on some jelly.

"Soo-Ri." Kai called me.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Um...your Dad just called in. Saying the gang is gaining up on us." he replied.

I stopped eating my toast.

"Don't be scared, okay. I'll be here." Kai said.

I swallowed my toast and looked at him.

"Kai...I don't like seeing you getting hurt, because of me." I said.

"It's my job." he said.

I was about to cry, just nearly.

"I know it's your job to protect me, but you're an important person to me." I said.

Kai sighed and he held my hand.

"I'll promise you this." he said.

I looked at him straight in the eyes

"I promise you that I won't get hurt, okay." he said.

"Promise?" I asked.

Kai nodded. "Promise."

3rd Person's POV
"We're planning to attack tonight." said Hyung-Ki.

"Yes, boss. But how are we going to get rid of that bodyguard of hers?" asked one of the members.

Hyung-Ki smirked and pulled out his knife from it's sheath.

"I'll deal with him."

Kai's POV
I sat down on the couch, just staring at my hot chocolate which was sitting on the coffee table.

After what Hyung said to me....I got worried.

~Phone Talk~
"Kai, they're probably attacking tonight."

"What?"

"They're attacking tonight at your place. I'm worried Kai. About my daughter."

"Hyung, I promise I'll keep her safe. It's my mission."

"Or is it?"

I went silent after that.

Min-Jun chuckled over on the phone.

"I know you, Kai."

"Hyung, I----"

"Tell her how you feel."

My heart started to beat fast.

"Anyway, I'll get back up tonight. They'll be heading there soon."

"I get it."

"We'll be there soon."

"Yes, I'll be waiting."

"Kai."

I turned to Soo-Ri and she was sitting by me.

"You okay? I called you like 4 times." she said.

"Minhae, I was thinking too hard." I said.

Soo-Ri sighed and laid her head on my shoulder.

"You don't mind, right?" she asked.

"N-Not at all." I stuttered.

Great! This is the first time I'm stuttering. I thought.

I held her hand and held it tight.

"Soo-Ri, you better be off to bed." I said.

"....I don't want to." she said.

I chuckled and patted her on the head.

"Go to bed, okay. I want to take you somewhere tomorrow." I said.

She sighed and nodded.

"Good night, then." she said.

"Good night."

She got up and she was about to go upstairs.

"Kai."

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Um...are you even tired?" she asked back.

"Not yet. But I'll be tired soon. I just need to check the area one more time." I replied.

She nodded and headed upstairs.

I heard her door closed. That's when I got up and got everything ready.

It's going to be a rough night, tonight.
