Time to make some new ones I guess" I mumbled to myself, scooting away from the chilly water shivering. I got up and decided to walk a little farther before heading back, a small coyote trail that led through a dome of wiry trees that let the sun shine through the little cracks warming my skin. The path wound around until it led to a small meadow that glowed in the morning sun. I sat down on a soft, moist stump on the edge of the meadow. Wow this is amazing, I thought to myself. A small rustling caught my attention but it stopped seconds later. Animal, I guessed. I sighed and relaxed again, moving to lay on the sof ground covered in dew.
" Aargh" I half screamed as I collided with a large fury body. I scurried away getting a good look at the massive body in front of me. A werewolf sat a couple feet in front of me, corse black fur gleamed in the sun it had, shockingly intelligent ice blue eyes that stared at me in wonder. We sat like that for minutes just staring at one another.
"Umm am I free to go" I broke the silence between us. The wolf blinked at me before trotting off behind a cluster of bushes. I got up slowly looking around for a way to escape, I backed away slowly looking for the path I had come from but it was between the werewolf and I.
"Hey, where are you going so soon" a deep voice cut through the eerie silence, I jumped and looked at were the werewolf had been seconds earlier, now stood a tall young man who must have been at least 6'4. He only wore a pair of ragged jeans, showing off his plentiful muscles. He had jet black hair and his eyes seemed even bluer eyes than before. His skin was darkly tanned.
"Uhhh, earth to ginger" he smirked "nice to meet you, I'm Brad. And you are...?" I scowled at him and watched his every move, remembering what Calum had told me about the werewolves being compelled into hunting me.
"What do you want, I haven't done anything to you just leave me alone" I half shouted at him. Brad got a hurt look in his eyes.
"Nice too meet you too" he mumbled to himself "I don't want anything, no you haven't done anything to me and can I come with you?"
"What!" I asked bewildered "How did you know... ohh never mind. Aren't all of you guys supposed to be hunting me?"
"The vampires compelled all of the packs, I go solo" Brad said. I was skeptical about whether or not to trust him.
"Why do you go solo?" I questioned.
"Because the pack is extremely strict and the leader is my father, so the pack had extra high expectations for me. So I dropped out" he explained.
"So you ran away"
"Something like that" Brad replied, his eyes stormy. I decided that I could trust him enough to bring him to Calum.
" I'll ask my friends if you can come" I said.
"Woohoo road trip" he yelled, I winced and started walking back to the hotel. Along the way Brad pelted me with questions and pranced around like a four year old on sugar. When we finally found our way to the hotel I could see Calum pacing by the SUV and Raine sitting anxiously on the curb. I mentally slapped myself for not writing a note and not keeping track of time. It was 7:30 and they were already packed and ready to go. Calum noticed me first.
"Where the hell have you been, I was just about to go looking for you. Why didn't you leave a note?" He yelled furiously striding up to me, Raine trotting behind him looking relieved. Calum just seemed to see Brad.
"Who are you?" Calum seethed.
"I'm Brad, and who might you be?" Brad stuck his hand out, but Calum didn't take it. Calum looked to me.
"He wants to come with us, he ran away from his pack" I explained.
"Asha do you remember what I told you werewolves are hunting you, and why would you want to come with us" Calum looked to Brad ready to explode any second.
"Action" said Brad simply.
"Sure you do, how could you trust him Asha" cursed Calum.
"Why are you so mad at me, if he was going to kill me or capture me he would have done it already" I said starting to get fired up.
"True" Brad piped in.
"And at least I'm asking, and hey we should take him with us we could use the extra help."
"And what if he calls his pack and they finish us off" Calum said sneering.
"Like I said I go solo, I'm loner you know out of the pack" argued Brad.
"What do you mean by pack?" Asked Raine quietly.
"He a werewolf and a pack is a bunch of werewolves that have formed an alliance and or are family" Calum replied frigidly. Raine's eyes flashed with fear and she took a few slow steps back. Brad looked hurt.
"You're fine Raine, and if he ever hurts you I'll make sure he pays" I looked at him pointedly. Calum spun around angrily, walking in a fast circle before coming to a halt in front of us.
"Fine he can come, but if at any chance you make one wrong move your out" warned Calum. Brad began to dance around, and Raine started to giggle.
"Oh, and find a shirt" I snorted.
We all packed up getting ready to head out, Raine and Brad chatter away making a fast friendship. Calum was completely ignoring me, his back too me all the time. I could practically feel the tension in waves as Calum jumped in the drivers seat beside me. I sighed.
"Calum, talk to me" he just grunted in return "Well don't go all pissy on me". The rest of the ride was silent, well at least Calum and I, Raine and Brad never quit talking, oblivious to the tension surrounding them. When we finally came to a stop on a run down path by an empty parking lot Calum seemed too have blown of some steam.
"Asha, look I'm sorry. I was just angry because I couldn't find you. I didn't know where you were and I just kind of freak, and when you came back with a werewolf I just couldn't hold it back" he sighed running a hand through his creamy brown hair. I don't know why but my stomach fluttered.
"It's okay, I really should have left a note or something, I just needed to get outside" I said shivering as I remembered the horrible vision I saw.
"What's wrong Asha?" He must have seen my gesture.
"I-I had another vision this morning and it was horrid and I still haven't seen my death" Calum looked shocked.
