I stumbled downstairs following the soft voices to the small living room.
"Asha, you should be in be." Raine whisper shouted, I rolled my eyes.
"I'm fine, anyways I needed to get up and do something. Happy birthday!" I shrieked and pulled Raine into a tight hug, Raine laughed and hug me back. Calum got up from an old recliner and hugged Raine too, we had all gotten close over the last few weeks well except Calum and Brad of course. Speaking of Brad he was nowhere in sight.
"Where is Brad?" I asked.
"Sleeping beauty called?" Brad waltzed in from the kitchen in a flowery apron and hot pink oven mitts. I buckled over in laughter and started choking on nothing, Raine snorted and patted my back. Even Calum couldn't hold back his laughter.
"What are you doing?" Raine asked through fits of giggles. Brad trotted up and gave her a hug and wished her a happy birthday.
"It's a surprise" Brad said mysteriously a secretive glint in his bright green eyes. Raine looked lovingly at him and he looked ready to kiss her. Seeming to notice that Calum and I were still in the room Raine parted their embrace sheepishly, Brad blushed.
"Well then love birds what's for breakfast? I'm starving." Calum grunted in agreement.
"Pancakes and eggs, my special treat included" Brad said cheerfully, yesterday seemed to never have happened. We all headed into the kitchen, the buttery aroma sifted through the air just as I spotted two overflowing platters of pancakes and a large bowl of steaming scrambled eggs on the old oak table in the center of the kitchen. When we were all seated we dug into the delicious feast, I had no clue where Alex and Rachel were but I didn't really care. After two servings and a large cup of bitter coffee I was feeling much better. Once everyone was finished their breakfasts Brad turned all the lights of and blindfolded Raine and went to get something before coming back, he started singing happy birthday. When the song ended he carefully pulling the blindfold off Raine and turned the lights on. We all gasped even Calum looked amazed.
A two layered cake cover in soft green icing and decorated with a wreath of hard candy roses and 'happy birthday Raine' written on the top in blue cursive writing.
"Jeez, what can't you do?" I said amazed, Raine squealed and blew out all the eighteen candles and jumped up and squeezed Brad and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before sitting back down and admiring the masterpiece Brad made for her. Brad looked just as chippy as Raine as he brought out a couple plates and a knife cutting a piece for everyone. The thick green frosting was delicious and the fluffy white cake was even better. You can do everything can't you cook, decorate cakes and stitch up legs like you have been a doctor for years." I exclaimed.
"When did B-dog have to stitch a leg?" Alex came out of nowhere. We all gasped at his sudden appearance, Calum and I almost jumped up to attack when Rachel came screeching in like a banshee about needing coffee or something like that.
"Ummm..." I looked to Calum for help.
"One time when we were at a camping ground and I was attacked by the neighbor's Rottweiler and it scratched my stomach and left a two inch deep gash luckily Brad knew how to stitch me up." Calum quickly came up with a very believable lie.
"Really can I see the scar" Rachel asked greedily. Calum shrugged and lifts up his grey sweatshirt to reveal a toned stomach and... a deep purple scar that went from one side of his stomach to the other, Rachel and Alex gasped and the rest of us tried to keep the surprise off of our faces.
"Ya that was a bitch to clean up, dude" Brad added stuttering slightly.
"So I see, well then me and Rachel are going shopping for school tomorrow want to come?" Alex looked pointedly at me.
"I'll have to pass thanks though" I mumbled, Raine nodded in agreement. Neither of us wanted to be near the crazy couple and it was Raine's birthday and I still haven't given her my present.
"Suit yourself" Alex siad stiffly before walking out the door with Rachel on his heels, when the coast was clear Brad and I both started spitting out questions.
"What the hell happened?"
"That couldn't be from a dog"
"When did you get it"
"Shut up!" Calum shouted over our questions, everyone was dead quiet when he spoke again.
"I got it about six months ago, no it did not come from a dog and..." Calum sighed. "And I hot it when I killed my parents, my father came home as a new vampire and he immediately went for my mother and turned her without anyone knowing but then he tried to get my sister and I we both teamed up and killed them but not before my father clawed me. After that my sister Abigail was never the same she found a way to cope and then she had my niece Ariaden all alone and I left end of story."
