Maybe I should talk to him If he is so anxious. Raine trudged down the stairs and Brad and I headed back to the kitchen table, Raine mumbled morning and looked around for food, my stomach growled at the thought of food. Once we were all settled we chattered quietly together, I was just glad that Alex was nowhere to be found. Calum didn't find it so reassuring.
"Alex?" Calum called up the stairs.
"Chill dude, we're coming" Alex replied from the top of the stairs. We? Who else lives here, I guess we're about to find out. Alex stomped down stairs, not a care in the world and headed straight for the food. Then another pair of feet came down the stairs much more profound, the clipped sound of heels made there way to the bottom of the steps. And there stood a tall brunette with plain brown eyes and long legs, her heels added a few unneeded inches. Her face was caked with makeup but no makeup in the world could lighten up the glare she was aiming towards Raine and I.
The guys didn't give her a second glance and went back to eating.
"Oh, guys this is my girlfriend, Rachel" Alex went on to introduce us and when he said my name she threw me a disgusted sinister look. "Hey you guys are going to Jacksonville high right? Well that's where Rachel goes and you're in the same gradewow what a coincidence" Rachel did not look happy about this and she sneered in disgust before walking by me accidentally bumping into me. Raine looked annoyed as she stared at the back of Rachel's head.
"So why are you guys here" Rachel asked rudely. I looked to Calum who looked to Raine and Raine nervously looked at Brad.
"Well you see Calum and I are road tripping across here with our girlfriends and we stopped here to see Alex" brad lied, it sounded so believable except for one thing.
"But you" she pointed to me and Raine "Are still in high school and why would your parents let you go" Rachel nagged. Ummm.
"Well you see Raine and I are adopted and right when we turned eighteen our parents had no control over what we do" I said wishing it was true. Rachel took this all in and nodded acting nice in front of the others.
"I can show you around"Rachel said demanding we go with her.I shrugged at Raine motioning her to follow. Rachel moved fast for a girl is four inch heels, she was already at the end of the short driveway and picking her way along the road. Raine and I scurried along catching up with Rachel. Right now she seemed quite civilized and normal but when we were out of sight of the old house she abruptly turned, stopping right in front of us.
"You better not make a move on my boyfriend, you have been glancing at him every minute and you hear I am the queen at the school and don't you think you can barge in with your whole I ran away sad story and good looks and steal my title" She ranted, her nose almost touching mine. But Rachel, oh Rachel you got it all wrong. Your 'boyfriend' is just a cheating bastard and a pig, that story is a lie that you are too stupid to see through, I don't want to be queen of the school and thanks for the compliment. Bitch. I thought staring at her in disbelief.
"Nothing to say, good lets hope it stays that way" Rachel snarled, and then turned and pointed at a large school like building with a stone exterior and large soccer field in the back. It didn't look like a five star hotel but it looked homey.
"I'm going to hang with some friends you can find your way around. And don't stay out past dark lots of scary things lurk there" Rachel hissed trying to scare us, ha she hasn't seen the half of it.
