She turned whipping her hair in my face and walked away, leaving Raine and I.
"Well do you want to look around" I asked Raine who was watching Rachel's retreating body.
"Sure anything to stay out of that house" Raine shivered.
"Agreed" I replied. Raine and I started walking in the opposite direction of the house, we made our way into town after a five minute walk. It wasn't much but it had the necessities, grocery store, small mall and even a old coffee shop. We turned into the coffee shop, it had a rough wooden exterior but the inside was amazing. The walls were a smooth light brown with a few abstract paintings on the wall. The booths were a deep brown that matched the walls perfectly, the place was empty. Slow music played in the background which complimented the calming room. Raine and I sat in a booth near a window, a couple minutes later a waiter came over and gave us a worn leather menu.
"Well this makes everything better, it's only a ten minutes walk here and five from school" I said motioning around the shop.
"And the school, it looks friendly. Well except Rachel, but it looks, you know..."
"Looks like home" I finished for her. Raine got that sad far away look in her eye every time we talked of our parents. They were so good to us, I remember when we were little they would take Raine and I to the park and we would all play tag together and then get ice cream. My dad would always get bubble gum ice cream with me and when we finished we would see who's tongue was bluer. They were tooken to soon. I grabbed Raine's hand and squeezed knowing that she was reliving the memories to, a tear rolled down her cheek.
"We have each other" I repeated my motto that I had made when we were all alone.
"And we always will" Raine finished sniffling. I gave her a sad smile and leaned forward giving her a tight embrace before the waiter came to take our order. There were so many choices, in the end Raine and I got a chocolate mocha with extra whipped cream. They were amazing and for a minute all I thought about was the chocolatey sweet taste before I came back to cold reality.
"Do you think it is safe to stay with Alex?" I didn't know how to answer it, was it safe?
"I don't know" I answered honestly "But it is only temporary, in a few weeks we will be sharing an apartment with Calum and Brad" I gave her a meaningful look. Raine giggled and blushed, I hope we make it to that apartment. Alex might kill us in our sleep. A good half hour later it was nearly two o'clock, Raine and I decided to explore a little around the school. The school was huge two stories and trails leading to who knows where. The doors were locked, well that was a let down.
"Let's see where some of these trails lead to" the first one led us straight back to the coffe shop. Well that is useful. The second led to a old rusted park, only one lonely child played there alone. The third trail led us to a wooden gazebo that was circled in trees and benches. Raine was pooped so we decided to stop and rest for a bit, the gazebo seemed comfortable until we walked up to it and saw what was in it. There lay a half naked Rachel and a older guy overtop of her covered in tattoos. They mustn't have heard us approach.
"Mhmm" I cleared my throat. The couple leapt apart panting,What the hell" Rachel said trying to cover up, Raine and I averted our eyes.
"I could say the same to you, we were exploring after you left us to go see 'friends'" I said snarkily.
"W–well you see..." The guy got up, still exposed and left, going somewhere into the woods.
"Oh I see" Raine laughed. Rachel shot her an icy glare.
"You can't tell Alex, or I swear I'll—"
"You'll what, kill us" I blew off her threat. Rachel got up, now fully dressed.
"No, I will call some people who have been chasing you" She snarled. I went still and Raine paled.
"Haha, not so witty anymore are you" Rachel snorted. I just spun around, grabbed Raine's hand and walked away stiffly. Rachel's laughter was still ringing in my ears as we got further away.
