So far we had a good day. Of course we haven't had enough sleep before the radio show but I feel pretty good after what Avi had done to my body last night, he certainly has magic hands.
After a great morning at the radio station we say goodbye to Kevin, he's the only one flying back to LA to spend the weekend with Alyssa while I'm off to Arlington with Avi, Kirstie, Jeremy, Scott and Alex. We decided to go there by train, because it wouldn't make such a difference time-wise and I like to stay on the ground while travelling. We have a cabin to ourselves and use the time to take a much needed nap.
Once we arrive in Arlington, I'm feeling human again. I rub my eyes and take my small suitcase, exit the train into the Texan afternoon sun.
Home sweet home.
"Mitch? Are Mike or Nel picking you up?"
"No, I told them to just wait at home, why are you asking, Scotty?"
"Dad is picking you up, we have enough space for the two of you. He's waiting at the park and ride" Scott explains and I nod but look at Kirstie first. "You'll be fine?"
"Yeah, actually my Mum is already waiting for us at the back of the train station. I guess this is goodbye for the weekend. See you on Sunday at the airport?"
"Yep. Bye Kirstie, bye Jeremy. Have fun" Scott returns.
We hug each other quickly but then make our way out to Scott's Dad quickly, not wanting to keep him waiting for too long. He's surprised to see Avi but doesn't say anything until he sees our intertwined fingers through the rear view mirror. He smirks at both Avi and me.
"Your parents will be glad you've found such a great man, Mitch" he comments, making both me and Avi blush.
"Thank you, Richard. But please keep it to yourself for now, his parents don't know, yet" I say, knowing he'll understand.
"I will. Now tell me everything about the upcoming album."
We let Scott talk for the majority, I'm too busy looking out of the window into the city, smiling when we enter the neighbourhood I grew up in. Not much has changed since the last time I've been here. It still feels like home, even after all these years I've been living in LA.
We arrive at my parents' house only minutes later and Richard stops to let us out. When they leave I take Avi's hand, suddenly feeling nervous, he's the first guy I'm bringing home since my first boyfriend.
"Ready?" I ask him.
"Yes, let's go, Babe."
I ring the doorbell and only seconds later my parents stand before us, beaming at me first, then looking confused at Avi.
"Later" I just say. "Let me hug you, first."
Five minutes later we're sitting in the living room and it's time to tell my parents. I take Avi's hand and look at my parents. "Mum, Dad, I brought Avi with me today because I need to tell you something: We're in a relationship."
"Really? For how long" Mike wants to know. He looks surprised yet happy.
"Not too long, five to six weeks maybe" I answer. "But we're both serious about it and want to tell you and some time soon his parents, too."
"He's making you happy, isn't he" Nel wants to know.
I nod and lean against him, rest my head on his shoulder. "He is. And now stop talking like he isn't here. You're making him nervous!"
"Sorry, Avi. I'm glad to have you here for the weekend, although I'm a little bit surprised" Mike says. "I mean, I know that Mitch has a good taste but I never pictured you by his side."
"Thank you" Avi says.
"So to get out of the awkward situation: Dinner? My treat" I say, noticing how nervous Avi still seemed. "Let's go to the Barbeque place we used to go?"
"Jones'? Why not. Fresh up and head out in 30 minutes? Or do you need more time to get settled in?"
"No, thirty minutes is fine. Come on, I'll show you my room, Avi." I take his hand and head over to my childhood bedroom.
"So this is where you grew up" Avi says, looking around the room.
"Yep" I say and drop down on the bed. "This room is so full of teenage Mitch."
"I can see it. You've changed a lot. In a good way" Avi says, still looking around the room. "But I like this room, it's comfortable, it feels homey." He sits down next to me on my bed.
"Thank you, Avi. I hope you didn't feel to awkward earlier on. It really was a weird situation."
"Never mind, Mitch. They probably just weren't expecting us to actually be together. But I really like your parents and I've got the feeling that this weekend is going to be amazing!"
I nod. "You're right. It is going to be amazing. After all I'm still planning to take you out tomorrow night."
"I can't wait. But first your parents. After all we're visiting them."
"Yep and this is why we're going out tonight, I'm taking Mum shopping in the morning and then do something with Mike. The evening, however, is going to be ours" I explain to him. "You can come with me if you want to!"
Avi shakes his head. "No. You should spend time with your parents alone. I can surely deal with myself for a while. Or I do something with your parents individually. I'm sure they both want to roast me for my intentions with you."
"They surely will." I giggle. "Now come let's get ready for dinner."
~
Dinner is great. We talk a lot, just over life in general, over our new music and of course the upcoming tour with Kelly Clarkson.
After we arrived back home we almost instantly retreat to my room, both tired as hell. The nap we had on the train just wasn't enough to make up for the short night.
I cuddle up into the sheets waiting for Avi who's still in the bathroom. I make some space in my rather small full sized bed for Avi. It's nothing compared to our king sized beds at home, yet it will do for the weekend.
"Hey, Babe." Avi enters the room and gets undressed before cuddling up next to me.
"Hey" I return. "Do you have enough space?"
"Mmhm, cuddly but I like being cuddly with you" he returns and pulls me even closer. "Let's sleep, I'm tired and tomorrow is going to be a long and eventful day. Don't want you tired when you want to take me out."
I giggle and give him our usual good night kiss. "It's good to see you getting along with my parents so well."
Avi nods. "Well, you got lucky with your Mum and Dad. They're amazing."
"Mmhm, I know, believe me, I know." I sigh and cuddle up even closer to him, yawning.
Avi chuckles then turns off the bedside lamp. "Good Night, Queen."
"Good Night, Big Daddy."
