"Mitch, Babe? We have to get up!"
I grumble and turn around in Avi's arms.
"Mitchie, please. We need to get ready" his voice is a little bit firmer now and I open my eyes directly, realising today is the day of the funeral.
"Morning... sorry..." I mumble.
Avi just shakes his head. "It's okay, Babe, I'm just a little bit on the edge today" he says with a softer voice.
"And that is totally acceptable, Babe. But whatever happens, I'll be there for you. Just let me know what you need, okay?" I softly caress his cheek and press a kiss on his lips, before getting up.
"Do you need a shower?" Avi wants to know. The bathroom should be free now.
"Yeah, a quick one would be good. But you should maybe go first. Your mane takes longer to dry.
Avi smiles and gets up as well. "You're right. I'll make it quick."
He leaves the room and I take out our suits from the garment bags and lay them out on the bed. Still not sure if I should take the jacket or the coat, I lay both down to decide later on. I then text Scott, quickly giving him an update about what happens yesterday.
"Your turn!" Avi enters the room freshly showered. "I laid out a towel for you. We can have a quick breakfast when you're finished and then get dressed."
"Thanks, I'll be quick, too" I say with a smile before I take my toiletries bag and exit the room. As promised I only take a quick shower and then get dressed in a black jeans and a simple shirt to have breakfast.
We're alone in the kitchen, everyone else has already had breakfast and is getting ready.
Avi doesn't talk much, I can sense that he's not okay at all. I make a mental note to take extra care of him today. He needs me and I'm glad that Esther called and invited me over.
After breakfast we go back up to his room. We meet Michael in the hallway but he just smiles at us, sadly and walks by, down the stairs.
In his room we both get dressed in our suits.
I style my hair and use a little bit of foundation to hide my prominent dark circles. Once I'm satisfied with the way I look, I put on the white dress shirt and look over to where Avi is desperately trying to button his shirt up with shaking hands.
I sigh softly. It really pains me to see him like that but I know that I just have to help him. "O'll do it for you" I whisper and push his hands aside to button up the shirt for him.
"I don't know if I can do it."
I look up at Avi and smile compassionately. "Nobody will force you to go there. But I know you. You will never forgive yourself if you don't go" I explain to him.
Avi shrugs his shoulders. "I know. But it seems so hard. I... I don't want to let go of her." Tears start running down his cheeks as he utters those words.
"Babe..." I begin, not really knowing what to say to help him but then deciding to go with my intuition. "Yoiu have to let go, eventually. I know it is hard and it hurts like hell. But you can't stay like that forever. You need to go." I wipe the tears away using my thumbs.
"Will you be there with me, Mitchie?"
"Of course, Avi! I'll be there for you the whole time. I will hold you, guide you, support you. You're not alone" I promise and softly squeeze his hands.
"Okay. I'll go!" Avi looks at me and smiles slightly through still tear clouded eyes. "Can you help me with the tie, as well?"
"Of course!" I take the black tie and quickly knot it up around my neck, then carefully slip it over his head and pull it into the right position then repeat the same steps with my own tie. A quick look at the watch tells me that we have a few minutes left. I pack my small man bag with enough tissues my wallet, phone and keys and then automatically grab the jacket to go with the suit.
"Don't, Mitch!"
I look around to where Avi is standing with my coat in his hands.
"Please wear this. I can't stand you putting on too much of a costume. I want you to look like my Mitch!" He holds the coat open for me to put it on.
"Thank you, Avi" I say once I finished buttoning my coat up.
"No, Mitch. Thank you" he returns and then pulls me in for a short, sweet kiss.
"You're welcome, my dear." I kiss him once more. "Are you ready to go, Babe?"
He shakes his head. "Not really. But I need to, anyway." He takes my hand and together we're heading out for the funeral. I really don't know what to expect, but the one thing I know for sure is, that it won't be easy.
