Wyatt wakes me up at around 8, demanding attention. I sigh and start rubbing his belly not wanting to get up to feed him, yet. After a while my phone beeps, announcing a new text message. It's from Esther.

Esther: Hey, Mitchie. Please call me as soon as possible. Don't worry, Avi is alright but I need to talk to you. Xx Tour Mum

I furrow my brows and instantly hit the call button next to Esther's name. Call me but don't worry about Avi sounds pretty cryptic to me.

"That was a fast one! Hello, Mitch."

"Hey, Esther. What's up? Your message seemed to be urgent."

"Well, I know I shouldn't be the one to tell you, but Avi... well he somehow came out by accident yesterday?"

"He did WHAT?" I can't believe what I just heard.

"Yeah, Mum and Dad know that he's with you."

"When, where, how? Give me details, Mum" My brain is working at at least 200 miles per hour.

I can hear that Esther takes a deep breath, probably to collect her thoughts. She know how much I hate when people want to tell me something and everything they say is just a mess of words and thoughts.

"Well, it was during breakfast. We talked about our lives and Mum just asked about a probable love interest. He denied but was hesitant.  You know how she can read him" Esther explains. "Well... in the end he confirmed his relationship with you and did what he does best, usually."

"Run away?"

"Yep. But Dad was faster. They're out in the forest, probably talking."

"Okay..." I just say and think about what I just learned. "Thank you for telling me, Esther. How is your Mum?"

"That's why I called. I know the circumstances aren't quite good with the funeral being tomorrow and everything but she asked if you'd like to come to Visalia. We can understand if you don't want to, it's just that she thinks Avi could really need you. And she wants to meet you officially, of course. I think she needs to see it to believe it."

"Yeah, I... I'm coming. Just let me pack up a few things and I'll be on the road" I directly answer already getting up from the bed.

"Don't stress yourself out. I'll text you the address in a moment. Just keep me updated on when you're going to arrive so that someone is at home."

I'm already pulling the suitcase from its place in the corner of the room. "I will. See you later, Mum!" I end the call and start packing. Basics first: I get a couple of boxer briefs, socks, shirts and my toiletries then go over to my walk-in dresser. I need to pack clothes. But what should I take. What do you wear to meet the parents of you your boyfriend? That's a problem I could actually solve.

But what do you wear if said family has just lost someone? That I don't really know. I sigh frustrated. I need help. Scott could be awake.

Quickly I put on my bathrobe and make my way over to his room, knock softly. Usually I would wait for him to get up but it is urgent. Mommy needs help!

"Mmhm, come in!" Scott's voice sounds clear, not tired.

I walk in to see Scott throwing on a shirt. He looks over, seemingly surprised by my appearance. "Oh, I thought we'd go to Starbucks" he says before looking at me once more. "What's wrong, Maggie? You look pretty messed up."

"I need to pack. Esther called, Avi came out last night and Mrs Kaplan invited me. I don't know which clothes to take. Usually if wouldn't be that hard, but the funeral is tomorrow and I don't know what to pack in general. I don't know if my usual style is a little bit over the top for this occasion." I start to ramble. *And... oh god, I'm freaking out!"

Scott on the other hand stays completely calm. "Don't! We'll go over to your room now and find you something suitable to wear, okay?"

I can't do anything but nod as Scott takes my hand and leads me over to my bedroom and into my dressing room.

"First things first. You should wear something classic to the funeral. Can't go wrong with a black suit."

I nod, quickly searching for the desired items of clothing. The one black suit I own together with a white dress shirt and- "Scott, I don't own a black tie!"

"I do. Wait, I'll get it. In the meantime, take your favourite plain black jeans and two more shirts. Take rather muted colours and simple cuts. And for today you should wear something utterly comfortable since you'll be driving. In fact everything you take should be comfortable." With that Scott leaves me alone to get the tie from his room.

I look through my clothes and assemble the stuff I want to take. It's actually a lot easier now that Scott has given me a few hints.

"Do you think I can wear the light black coat instead of the suit jacket? I don't like it that much" I ask, holding the item in question up. I've already packed up everything else, just the suit is missing.

Scott nods. "I think so. But if you're not sure you could take both and ask Avi. But I think it's appropriate" he encourages me and I put the coat into the garment bag along with the suit.

"Got everything?" Scott asks when I close the bag up.

"Yes, I have. Just need to get dressed and then I'm good to go" I say and look at my best friend. "Thank you, Scotty." I hug him quickly and press a kiss on his cheek.

"Alright. I'm going on a Starbucks run. Shall I get you something for the drive?"

"A venti triple? Thank you."

Scott shakes his head. "Not for that. See you later."

Half an hour later I'm sitting in my car and program the GPS. I send Esther a message saying that I'm leaving LA and take a deep breath. I'm actually quite nervous, but I know I'm doing this for Avi. For us. I take a sip of my coffee and then turn on the engine.

I wave Scott goodbye and then I'm off to Visalia, to meet the parents.
