When I was all cried out, my mom and I ate chili and talked about other things, like college and my job.

I was currently employed at a daycare called Sunrise. They had some of the cutest kids! My favorite was this boy who was about five, with special needs. He always gave me a hug and called me Miss Porter, and wanted to sit on my lap during story time. His name was Matthew.

Dad came home a bit later, when Mom and I were done eating. I excused myself from the table so they could sit and talk, but also just so I could be alone.

I went to the living room and curled up on the couch to watch Netflix. I was in the middle of season one of Jane the Virgin, this awesome romance/crime drama. It would be a good waste of my time. I could drown my sorrows in a bowl of cuteness with a side of Rafael! (He was my favorite character in the show.)

I grabbed my phone and unlocked it, trying hard not to focus on the home screen. It was a photo from my senior prom, which I'd attended with Denver. He was holding open his tuxedo to reveal a Batman T-shirt, and I stood there, showing him off proudly. How very Tumblr of us.

Sighing, I opened my text messages, and clicked on Jake's contact. Jake was my girl best friend. She'd always hated her name and said it was boyish, but I loved it.

I texted her: Hey.

She replied instantly. Hey girl! What's up?

Watching Jane the Virgin.

Ooo lucky! P.S. How'd it go today with Denver?

A lump formed in my throat, but I swallowed it and texted her back. It was okay. Pretty sad, but I made it through...sort of.

Aw babe. 😔 I'm here if you want to talk.

I thought about it, but decided against it. Nah, that's okay. Thanks though.

No problem. Well I'll ttyl, I have to watch my little brother.

Jake's four-year-old brother Noah was in my daycare class. He looked just like Jake, with his big brown eyes.

Okay, have fun. Ttyl, I typed. Then I went back to watching my show. I rewinded it a few minutes, since I'd missed what they were saying.

After a couple episodes, my dad came in to tell me it was time for bed. I didn't really have a bedtime, but we had church the next day, so I needed my rest.

I doubted I'd get any, though. I was too busy thinking about Denver, and how it would be so weird not having him at church with me. He'd been going every Sunday since our third week of being a couple.

It would be different, that's for sure.
