I decided it was time to write Denver another letter. If I wasn't gonna be able to call him and tell him all the bad news, I could at least put it on paper.

So I wrote:
Dear Denver,
Some things have happened since we last spoke on the phone. Mostly bad things.
On New Years Eve, I got in a car accident. Now my leg is broken in two places, and I'm getting around on crutches. Don't worry about me, though.
Who you should really be worried about is Jonny. He's in a coma! I'm so worried and I don't know what to do, of if he'll ever wake up. Please be praying for him and his family!
I really miss you. I wish I could've told you all this in person, or at least on the phone.
Even though it's not off to a great start, happy new year! I love you.
Forever yours,
Skylinn

After putting the letter in the mail the next morning, I called work to tell them about my accident. They were very sorry to hear about it, and told me to take all the time I needed to heal. I wished I didn't have to be out of work; I would miss the kids so much! But there was no way I could get around and teach on these crutches.

A few days later, I was reading The Elite, but I was getting pretty bored of that. I was already more than halfway through the book and had only been reading for a couple hours. That series was so addicting!

Anyway, I really wanted a change of scenery. It was boring being cooped up in my house all day.

"Mom, can we go to the hospital and visit Jonny?" I asked that night at dinner.

It was just me and her, 'cause Dad had to work late.

"Are you sure you want to see him?" she replied.

I bit my lip, thinking over her question. Was I really ready to face him? I didn't really want to cry again...

"Yes. I want to see him. He needs us, even if he doesn't know we're there."

She smiled. "I think you're right."
