"Wait...what?" I asked.

He didn't remember me?

No. No, no, no, no, no. This couldn't be happening. He had to remember!

"Who are you? Are you...my girlfriend?" Jonny asked, seeming confused.

"Uh, no. I'm your best friend. We've known each other since kindergarten! Come on, you can't throw all of that away! You have to remember," I sobbed.

"Skylinn," he said, standing up and wrapping me in his arms. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you would react this way."

"W-what?"

"It was a joke. See the clock?"

I glanced at it.

"What does it say?" he asked.

"12:04."

"Happy April Fools," Jonny whispered, smiling down at me.

"You... What?!" I couldn't believe he would do this! But I was oh, so happy it was true. "So...you do remember me?"

"Of course. I remember everything."

All in all, I couldn't really be mad at him. Even though he'd scared me to death with that little prank, it didn't quite measure up to how happy I was just to see him alive.

"I'm so glad you're here. Please don't ever leave me again," I whispered, holding on to him as tightly as I could.

"I won't," he replied, kissing the top of my head. "I won't."
