I awoke seven hours later, around 6:15, feeling pretty well rested. I actually almost forgot that Denver was back, until I picked up my phone and saw his text.

Can't wait to see you tonight! Wear something pretty 😉.

I texted him back: Perv. I'll do what I want.

Lol I just meant we're going somewhere nice.

I know, just givin' you trouble. What time are you coming?

Let's say 8:00? he suggested.

8:00?!?! Who do you think I am?? I NEED FOOOOOD!!

Calm down, Cookie Monster. I'll be there at 7.

That's better. See ya, I typed, then left my phone on the bed while I went to get ready.

I picked out a pink off-the-shoulder thing I'd been saving since last fall, and my tan wedges. Then I put loose curls in my hair, and did my makeup. I debated putting on Denver's infinity necklace, but decided against it. It didn't really go with the outfit.

He picked me up a few minutes late, never the punctual type. But I didn't mind, 'cause it gave me a little more time to get ready.

He paused in the doorway. "Gosh, are you trying to make me look bad?"

"What do you mean?"

"No one's gonna believe this beautiful girl chose me as her date. You did too good, Sky. I might as well just go home." He feigned hurt, putting a hand on his chest for dramatic flair.

I snorted. "This old thing?"

"Yes, this old...lovely, beautiful thing," Denver said, coming closer to me. "How did I get so lucky?"

I shrugged. "You have good taste?"

He laughed. "So very modest."

"I know, right?"

"Come on, Your Highness, let's go."

"Oh, first I'm the Cookie Monster and now I'm royalty? It's like I'm an actress or something!" I joked, taking his arm.

"A very conceited one, at that," he added.

"Oh, hush up."

I hadn't realized until now just how much I missed this. It was so good to have him back in town, I almost forgot that it would only last two weeks. Almost.

A/N: Yo sorry for the short chapter. I've been re-reading the book, just to remember some old minor details, and I realized a few mistakes... Like, first the guy's name was Xavier, and now it's Owen. The guy who sold the kittens, I mean. And apparently I made both her dad and Denver get her infinity necklaces for Christmas??? Oops. You probably didn't remember those things until I brought them up just now...so idk why I did. Oh well.
