A few days later, a package came in the mail. It was addressed to me and I knew exactly what it was: Denver's gift.
I brought it up to my room and ripped off all the tape on the cardboard box. Inside was a tiny wrapped package with a sparkly red bow tied to it. I took it out and untied the bow, then tore off the wrapping paper.
Inside the box was a necklace. It was pure silver with a small charm. Infinity.
I knew exactly what it meant. We would be together for eternity. To infinity and beyond.
I wished I could call him, hear his voice as he told me exactly why he'd picked it out. Where he's gotten it, how much it cost. None of those things really mattered, but I wanted to know anyway. Or maybe I just wanted to hear his voice. Either one.
I put the necklace on and admired it in the full length mirror attached to my door. It was absolutely gorgeous. I wish Denver could see me now, wearing his necklace.
New Year's Eve was only two days away. Surely he'd be able to have his phone, just for a couple hours. Surely they'd let him wish his family a happy new year. He just had to call me! I knew he would. He wouldn't let the day pass without at least sending me a text. It wouldn't be right.
Finally, I decided to give it a rest. I had better things to do than sit around moping and admiring necklaces.

A/N: Again, sorry for the short chapter. And for the fact that I haven't updated in over a week! I feel really bad about that... I hope you liked this chapter. The next one will probably be much longer, and full of drama! 😉 So stay tuned!
