||Jonny's POV||

The one person I wasn't expecting to get a text from on a random Tuesday afternoon was Jake.

Her text was pretty short, just a couple words. We need to talk.

Those were never good words. But I replied, Sure. Should we meet somewhere?

That'd be great. Are you working today?

Just got off, but I'm still here.

Stay there. I can be at Culver's in ten minutes, she said.

Sure enough, she showed up at my work in no less than ten. I got us some free drinks and we found a booth to sit at. "So...what's up?"

"I have to tell you something."

"O-okay," I said, thinking, 'What's this all about?'

"Skylinn told me how you feel about her."

Well. Not what I was expecting.

"Now, before you say anything, there's more," Jake continued. "Yesterday, Denver proposed."

'WHAT?!' I wanted to scream. "Um, what did she say?" I asked instead.

"She said no."

"She did?"

"She did," Jake confirmed.

"Wow. That's...unbelievable."

"I know. She wanted you to know but she wasn't sure how to tell you herself, so she asked me to do it."

"I see. Um, why couldn't she tell me?" Also, why was I nervous?

"She doesn't really know how she feels right now. Denver kinda...broke up with her. Or at least that's how she's taking it. She hasn't spoken to him since the proposal yesterday."

"Wow. Do you know why she turned him down?" I asked.

"Lots of reasons, but mostly, she didn't think she was ready to get married," Jake explained.

"Makes sense."

"Yeah."

"So she knows you're doing this?" I asked.

"Yeah, she asked me to."

"Could you send her a message for me, then?"

"Of course."

"Tell her that she can have all the time she needs. I don't want to rush her, or make her feel like she has to come 'running to me.' I want to give her time to think and figure out what she wants to do. And if that means not talking to me for a few days, then so be it. Because at least she'll be talking to me when she's done thinking."

Jake smiled. "You're so cute, ya know that?"

"I just love her, that's all."

"I know."

A/N: Sorry this is such a short chapter, compared to all my latest ones with 1000+ words. I think it's cute that Skylinn's two best friends are teaming up to make her feel better, don't you?

Anywho, what do you think will happen with Denver? Do you think he's out of the picture for good? Or will he come back for her? Only time will tell, but I want to hear your ideas anyway.
