A/N: So above is a collage of my characters. The top picture on the left is Sean O'Donnell, who's playing Jonny. Bottom left is Jake Miller, who's playing Denver. The girl...well, idk her name. I don't think she's famous. But she is playing my character Skylinn. Okay, onto the story!

The next morning, we had to leave bright and early for the airport. My neighbor Jonny Cox was taking us.
Jonny was my age, and we'd grown up together. He'd moved in when I was six, and we'd lived next door to each other ever since. He was like the big brother I never had, but when I was younger, I had the biggest crush on him!
After all, he gave me my first kiss in second grade. All the other girls were teasing me because they had dates to the class Valentines party and I didn't. But then Jonny agreed to go with me, and he was my date. When the girls didn't believe me, he kissed me in front of everyone, claiming that I really was his girlfriend (even though I wasn't). It was then that I'd fallen in love with my next-door neighbor.
But once I met Denver, it was all over. He was the handsome new kid in school, the one all the girls had eyes for. He's transferred from Indiana to Orlando in the middle of my sophomore year. We'd started dating early that spring, just a few weeks after he'd arrived. I was head over heels for him the moment he showed up in Mrs. Williams' English class that one Monday morning in April.
I knew from our first date that he was my true love, the one I was destined to be with for the rest of my life.
But now that we were on our way to the airport, where he would be leaving for boot camp, I wasn't so sure. I knew our love could withstand anything; but a small part of me worried that he wouldn't make it back. And maybe it wouldn't be that horrifying. Perhaps he would just find someone better over in Iraq. But in my head, that was even worse than the idea of him dying.
A tear rolled down my cheek as we drove through the streets of Florida, and I brushed it away quickly. I'd chosen to sit in the back with Denver, so we'd have as much time together as possible before he left. Jonny sat in the front seat, one hand on the steering wheel, the other hanging out the window.
Even though it was mid-November, the sun was shining and it was over 70°. Florida was like a paradise when it came to the weather. But now that Denver was leaving, it didn't seem so great anymore.
What was the sunshine state without your sun? The one who could make everything better in an instant. The one who could make you smile when all you wanted to do was sit in your room and cry. I was losing my sun. And even with the warm breeze coming through the window, I was colder than ever.
