(Y/N) wasn't ever much for cupcakes, but it was always an exception when her mom made them. The cupcake was topped with her favorite icing, and perfectly swirled on the top.

(Y/N) munched on the small cake, picking it apart and tossing pieces into her mouth. Her mom was cleaning up the kitchen from her baking session, and (Y/N) slowly made her way to her room. Just as she entered, she heard a loud banging on her door.

Quickly, she made sure that her bedroom door was locked and shut before opening the door to the terrace. She was rushed with a hug and nearly fell over. Her cupcake slipped to the ground and she couldn't help but let out a squeal.

"(Y/N)!" It was Mikey. "We were all so worried!"

Once Mikey stepped back, she didn't even get the chance to ask why they were worried before Donnie's arms were around her.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm okay." She promised.

Leo hugged her next. He stepped back, his eyes darting to her arms. (Y/N) looked at him nervously as she tugged on her sleeves.

Raph wrapped his arms around her tightly. (Y/N) awkwardly hugged back—the only one who got a hug in return. She wondered what was going on. She wasn't used to so many people caring about her.

Donnie must have noticed her confused expression. "We heard some stories." He said softly.

"About what?" (Y/N) asked.

"Nothing." Raph said quickly.

"Right." Leo agreed. "Nothing. We're just glad you're okay."

(Y/N) was very curious, but decided not to say anything. She picked up what part of her cupcake cluttered to the floor.

"Did I do that?" Mikey asked. "Oops... Sorry."

(Y/N) tossed it in the trash can and sat on her bed. She rubbed her hands across her jeans and nervously looked from each of the guys to the next. She had no idea what to say.

"So..." Donnie said slowly. "Why haven't you been at school?"

"Didn't Raph tell you?"

"Why would Raph know?" There was a hint of warning in Leo's voice.

(Y/N)'s terrified (e/c) eyes darted to Raphael, who was looking the other way with his arms crossed. She realized Leo wasn't yelling at her, he was testing Raph.

"Raph?" Leo said impatiently.

"Okay, so maybe I came out to check on her. It's no big deal."

"So you knew this whole time she was okay and you didn't tell us?" Donnie exclaimed.

"I just found out last night! I would've told you on the way, but I was busy!"

"Busy?" Leo repeated. "With what?"

"I was thinking!"

(Y/N) nervously watched the events unfolding from her bed. Her heartbeat sped up with every retaliation the boys threw at each other.

"What were you possibly thinking about? (Y/N)'s life was in danger!"

"Don't you think I knew that? I was just—"

"Just what?" Leo demanded.

"I didn't think—"

"Clearly!" Donnie yelled.

Raph sighed. "I didn't want anything bad to happen to her!"

"We don't want anything bad happen to her, either, Raph." Mikey explained, trying to stay calm.

"That's not the point!"

"Then what is?!" Yelled Leo.

"(Y/N)'s different!" Raph exclaimed. "Okay? She's different!"

(Y/N) slowly looked at Raph. She was nervous. She didn't want to be different. She wanted to be normal. Tears stung her eyes, but no one took notice.

Leo's eyes turned to those of malice. "Are you saying she's different because of the depr—"

"No!" Raph screamed. "It has absolutely nothing to do with that!"

Donnie and Mikey had stepped back from the fight. They didn't want to be any closer to when things started to get physical.

"Then what then?!"

Raph's face was red now, (Y/N) assumed from anger. He glanced down at her before looking back at Leo. "She just—she just is, alright?"

"Stop being so ridiculous!" Leo huffed.

"I'm ridiculous? You're the one who started throwing a tantrum just because I came to see (Y/N)!"

"I'm not throwing a tantrum!" Leo stepped forward. "You're just being a pain!"

"Oh, I'll show you pain—"

(Y/N) abruptly stood. It was all becoming too much. She tried to rush past them, but they were in her way. Raph looked over at her, and his eyes softened. Leo slowly released hold of his katanas and looked between the two of them.

"(Y/N)," Raph said softly. "Are you okay?"

"Stop..." She said, her voice shaking. "Just... I don't..." (Y/N) covered her face.

She breathed in the smell of the laundry detergent that lingered on the edges. She tried to focus solely on that, but she couldn't. Her tears dripped down her face and every time she breathed in she just smelled her tears. She didn't want to cry in front of them. They'd think she was weird. They wouldn't like her anymore. Raph wouldn't like her anymore.

"I'm sorry." She tried to say it calm, but it came out like a sob.

Feeling defeated, she only cried harder. (Y/N) plopped down on her bed, face still buried in her sleeves. She accidentally let a whimper slip out and only began crying harder. The bed dipped down beside her, but she didn't feel brave enough to look up.

"Listen..." Raph said from beside her. "It's okay. You don't have to apologize. You didn't do anything."

"I can't— I'm..." (Y/N) just stopped trying.

"It's okay." Raph assured.

Unsure what to say, (Y/N) covered the bottom half of her face with her balled up fists, letting her eyes meet his. He offered a small smile that made (Y/N) want to cry even more, but for entirely different reasons than being sad or frustrated. She looked away and out the window, and for a moment everyone was silent.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

Nearly everyone jumped ten feet in the air.

"Are you okay, (Y/N)?" Her mom asked. "I thought I heard screaming."

(Y/N) didn't answer, but instead looked at her friends.

"(Y/N)?" The doorknob wiggled. "(Y/N), baby, are you okay?" Her mom sounded more panicked.

One by one, the guys hopped onto the roof and out of sight. (Y/N) scurried over to the door and opened it. Her mom sighed in relief and pressed her hand to her forehead.

"I'm sorry." (Y/N) said immediately.

"No. No, it's okay, Sweetie. I just heard yelling. Who was that?"

"I think it was the neighbors." (Y/N) said coolly. "They've been fighting a lot, lately, I think."

"Oh..." Her mom's eyes darted across the room. "Okay." She sounded unsure, but didn't pry. She looked into her daughter's glassy eyes. "Are you okay?"

(Y/N) nodded with a small smile. "I'm okay."

"Good." Reluctantly, her mom shut the door, leaving (Y/N) alone with her thoughts.

But (Y/N) didn't want to be alone. She was scared of what she'd do when she was alone.
