chapter -22- "Be my lawyer"

Meghan and Charlie got out of ray's office .

"I can't believe this" said Meghan

"it'll be alright , It's not the end of the world you can sign a record deal with another company" said Charlie trying to be positive

"if I lose in the court no company would want to sign a record deal with me" said Meghan

"then I'll spend all my money trying to build and establish a record company and sign a record with you" said Charlie while smiling

"thanks , I know you would" said Meghan as she got closer to Charlie and hugged him .

They got into Charlie's car and Charlie drove to Epic studios where Meghan's manager works .

Meghan walked furiously into the building , she was heading to John's office when his secretary stopped her .

"do you have an appointment with my manager?" asked the secretary

"no but I'd like to meet him immediately" replied Meghan

"I'm sorry but you can't see him without an appointment" said the secretary

Meghan pushed her a little bit and ran into John's office , the secretary stood up and followed her , Meghan opened the door and got in .

"Meghan ? I was expecting to hear from you soon" said John

"I'm sorry I tried to stop her but she pushed me and ..." said the secretary but John interrupted "it's OK Lauren I will meet with her you can leave" said John , Lauren looked disappointed but she left .

"what the hell did my lawyer tell me in less than an hour ago!!!?" asked Meghan

"take a seat Meghan , please" said John , Meghan took a seat

"your tour was not successful , neither was your album , you had many obstacles in your way , Sony Entertainment doesn't see a future for you , so they suspended your record deal , it's this simple" said John

"but it's called a DEAL and THEY SIGNED ON It they can't just suspend it" Meghan half-yelled

"for you information , I filed a lawsuit to the court and you will not get away with this" said Meghan

"you want a piece of advice Meghan , draw the lawsuit because you'll lose , you can't win" said John

"that might be true , but I won't stop fighting for my right" said Meghan

"I'll see you and your higher managers in court" said Meghan as she walked out .

"what did he say? " asked Charlie

"let's get out of here" said Meghan

They got into Charlie's car , "where do you want us to go?" asked Charlie

"I'm thirsty, let's go to Starbucks" replied Meghan

"OK" said Charlie

Charlie drove to Starbucks , they ordered two banana juices and they sat inside the restaurant .

"do you think that I should cancel the lawsuit?" asked Meghan

"I think that what you're doing is brave , even if your chances of winning are low you are not giving up , and even if they win you are sending them a message that you are not surrendering easily and that they won't cancel your record deal that easily without a fight" said Charlie

"can you sing something to me now? " asked Meghan

"hmm what? " asked Charlie

"your voice gives me comfort , and I'm very depressed right now" said Meghan

"OK but , you mean here in public" asked Charlie

"just like you have never been in concerts , but no you don't have to sing loudly , just high enough for me to hear you" said Meghan

Charlie and Meghan went to the court , ray was waiting for them there .

"the response from the court on your lawsuit has arrived" said Ray

"And , did they accept my report? " asked Meghan

"ahhh yes , A meeting has been declared by the court a week from now to discuss the situation with you and Sony Entertainment company" said Ray

"that's encouraging for a first step" said Charlie

"I know" said Meghan smiling

Ray's face was still frown , "is there anything else? " asked Meghan

"sorry Meghan , but I'm not going to defend for you in the court , you'll need another lawyer" said Ray

"but you're my trusted lawyer , why ray? " asked Meghan

"I'm sorry , I need to go now" said Ray and he left

"I can't believe he will surrender this easily" said Meghan

"we'll find another lawyer , don't worry" said Charlie , "I'm going to drink some water , do you want some?" said Charlie

"no thanks" said Meghan , Charlie left to drink water , Meghan looked around and she noticed a woman walking towards her

The woman presented her hands to shake it with Meghan , Meghan shook hands with her

"Hello , my name is Emily waters , I'm a lawyer" said Emily , she looked and sounded like she is in her twenties

"Hello Emily I'm ..." said Meghan but Emily interrupted

"Meghan Elizabeth trainor , I know" said Emily

"OK" said Meghan

"I believe in woman being able to express themselves , and fight for their rights , Sony didn't have the right to end your record deal , I know Ray won't be defending you in the court , but I can" said Emily

"If you can help me in this case then sure" said Meghan

"let's go to my office and discuss your case" said Emily

"I'm just waiting for my husband and then we'll go" said Meghan

"your husband?" asked Emily

Meghan turned around to see Charlie coming their way
