Sorry for the wait.. So this one's pretty long! :D
Gilbert Lake House, 3rd Person POV
Elena Gilbert sat in her father’s old rocking chair, reading Jonathan Gilbert’s journal. You see, Elena had decided to take a small vacation of sorts with her boyfriend Stefan Salvatore. Only to get away from the stress of the Original Klaus, and the sacrifice that they kept learning more, and more about.
Yesterday, her and her boyfriend happened to come across the many journals of her ancestor. And today- she decided she was going to read them. Although, that was most difficult.
Her sister, Electra, was on her mind at the moment. She wondered what was happening at home, and if anything had happened, that was important that was being kept a secret from her. Elena though, attempted to push those thoughts aside as she flipped to a certain page.
With the dying embers of the fire at Fell’s Church, the scourge of the vampires had passed. And though war raged all around us, our town was safe from the demons of the night… Or so we thought. For the monsters we drove to their fiery deaths had began new monsters..
Flashback, 1864
Jonathan Gilbert, Honoria Fell, and Thomas all sat together at the dining room table speaking of old times, as they poured wine into each others glasses. This was meant to be a time of celebration. For the monsters had all been killed from the burning of the church.
Or so they thought.
Just then there was a small noise from outside of the home. All eyes snapped towards the open window, the humans who were once enjoying dinner now had all frozen in their place now alert.
“Did you hear that?” Honoria asked glancing at Thomas and Jonathan who had indeed heard the same noise. Thomas took a knife in his hand from the table as he glanced once more out the window.
“Stay here.”
“No Thomas.” Honoria denied as Thomas headed towards the door.
“It’s alright dear, the vampires are all dead.” Thomas attempted to make her feel better as he glanced towards Jonathan for clarification.
“Yes Honoria.” Jonathan began, clearing his throat, “They burned in the church, we’re safe now.”
Without a second thought Thomas headed outside- knife in hand to go and check out the noise. While back inside Honoria was biting her bottom lip nervously, fearing what might be out there.
“Please Jonathan.” Honoria pleaded with the man, hoping he would go outside and help Thomas, “I’m worried.”
Jonathan glanced at her, “Very well, I shall go too.”
He then stood up and walked outside as well to see Thomas looking around the yard searching for anything out of the ordinary. Jonathan smiled slightly seeing his friend’s frightened face about something that no longer existed in Mystic Falls.
“I can prove there are no vampires.” Jonathan said pulling the vampire tracking pocket watch from his pocket before opening it. “See?”
But then, all of the sudden the dial on the watch began to spin uncontrollably. Jonathan furrowed his brows for a moment as he looked over at the watch. There was something supernatural around.. It couldn’t be a vampire now could it?
