Miranda's pov

I was awoken when I heard the strumming of a beat up old guitar. I sit up and stretch. The song being played is one I know well. One that gives me so many memories. The song me and the asphalt cowboy first danced to onstage in Dallas.

~flashback~

He pulled me onstage. "What's your name?" He asks. "Miranda." I say, nervously. He smiles. "Love the shirt." He says, making me blush. He grabs my hand and tosses his guitar, giving hand signals to his band. "What's he up to. "This is for all the girls who ain't afraid to get down and dirty and be like one of the boys." He breaks into she's country and twirls me around. "This little Texan sure knows how to raise the roof!" He gasps. I laugh and have the time of my life dancing with him while he sings.

~flashback over~

I walk downstairs and Jason's playing the song. "Hey sleepyhead." He says, lowering the guitar. "You remembered our first song?" I whisper, trying to hide the tears. He smiles and sets it down. "I couldn't forget it if I tried. And if you remember..." He says, letting his voice trail off. He turns on the stereo and I hear if you're gonna play in texas blast through the speakers. That's the song he played right after she's country all those years ago. Because we were in Texas. He put his cowboy hat on straight and clasped my hands. He sang along to it. "A cowboy in the back stood up and yelled cotton eyed Joe he said we love what you're doin' boys don't get me wrong there's just somethin' missin' in your song!" He taps his foot to the beat and spins me into his arms. I didn't even realize tears were coming out of my eyes. He helps me back up and wipes them away with his thumb. "Don't cry baby." I smile. "Oh silly cowboy. I'm crying happy tears!" I gasp, taking his cowboy hat off his head. "I missed you so much this past year." He says. "You and me both." He leans in to kiss me when a knock at the door interrupts us. "I wonder who that could be." He mumbles, looking in the direction of the front door. I quickly kiss his lips before he leaves to answer the door. He smiles back at me and walks backwards to the door thus tripping over the box with some of my stuff I haven't unpacked. I laugh slightly and he stands back up red faced. I walk over and stand by his side as he opens the door. My eyes go wide in surprise, seeing Cole. "Hey bro, what are you doing here?" I gasp, surprised. He's super pissed. "We need to have a talk." He says. Uh oh. Me and Jason look at each other unsure. "I guess I'll see what he wants." I mumble with a sigh. He grabs my hand. "I'll see ya in a bit." He says it almost like a question. I think he's worried Cole will try to make me come home to Texas. I hug Jason tightly. "I'll come back. I promise." I whisper. His grip gets tight. "I love you." He says. "I love you too." I say, walking out with my brother.
