Miranda's pov

Me and Cole are talking against his truck. "I wish you didn't do this." "I don't care." "You're setting yourself up to get hurt again!" "No I'm not! How'd you find out anyway!?" He crosses his arms. "I called your phone and that prick answered." My eyes blazen with anger. "He's not a prick!" I gasp, shoving him. He glares at me. "Don't do this." "I'm doing it. I love him and he loves me." I say, stubbornly. "Whatever. Don't come crying to me when that asshole hurts you again!" "I won't have to!"

Jason's pov

Cole gets in his truck to leave. That guy never liked me. No clue why. But he hates me even more obviously from that conversation. My hands are gripped tight around the wood of my porch. She flips him off and walks back over as he peels out of the drive slinging mud on her! My eyes go wide. She freezes for a few seconds, wide eyed. Then walks back to me. "What should we do now?" She asks. "Maybe we could finish unpacking that box so I don't trip over it again." I half joke. She smiles. "I'm gonna get changed first." I nod and she goes inside. I stay out on the porch for a few seconds then I go inside too. She walks down the stairs wearing a lime green shirt with one blue stripe on it and Capri jeans along with the cowboy boots she loves to wear. I pick the box up and put it on the table. She sits beside me and looks through it. I close my eyes and drift off while she sorts through her stuff.

*in his dream* technically a flashback!

"We never go out anymore! You're always too busy either getting drunk with your stupid friends or at the studio!" She shouts. "What do ya want me to do about it?!" I shout back. "Do you even love me?!" "Of course I do!" "It sure doesn't feel like it!" She whimpers, turning around, her back to me. I look away hearing her cry. "Of course I love you. I'm just..... Busy." "Every night? I doubt it!" She spins back around, tears rushing down her cheeks. "Is there another girl, Jason? And that's why you don't wanna spend time with me?!" I quickly walk over to her. "Dallas, I swear to God there is not another girl. You're the only girl I'll ever love. I promise!" How can I get her to believe me?! I can tell she doesn't believe me. "Maybe I should just go back to Texas." My heart nearly stops. "Please don't leave. There's no girl!" She pulls free and walks into the bedroom. "Dallas?" I call, worried. "Dallas!" She slams the door. What do I do?!

*he wakes up*

Ugh I hate how we used to fight over the dumbest things! I'm glad we don't anymore. Maybe time was all we really needed. She was whisper singing a song and I didn't realize til just now. "Just to see you smile, I'd do anything, that you wanted me to... When all is said and done! I never count the costs, it's worth all that's lost, just to see you smile." I smile just listening to her sing. "When you said time was all you needed, I moved back and let you have your space, cause leavin' didn't hurt me near as badly as the tears I saw rollin' down your face." My eyes go wide, seeing, her crying. "Dallas, you okay?" "Yeah.... Just.... Mom and dad." Oh. She was holding a picture of them, Cole, and her. Her parents died in a house fire when she was ten. I pat her back. "You think they'd be happy with the choices I've made?" "Of course. You're a great person." "I miss them more now." She stands up and puts the picture on the mantle over the fireplace. She starts singing the song again. "And yesterday I knew just what you wanted when you came walkin' up to me with him. I smiled and said I was happy for you and given the chance I'd lie again." I pick up the chorus and hold her hand. "Just to see you smile, I'd do anything, that you wanted me to, when all is said and done, I never count the cost it's worth all that's lost, just to see you smile." Her head rests against my chest. "I'm sorry about your parents, sweetheart." I say, looking at the photograph. Her dad was tall with short dark hair. He wore glasses and was a suit and tie kinda guy. Her mom had curly red hair and a smile that made me think of my mom. "They'd be proud of you." I say. She looks up at me and I wipe the tears from her eyes. "I love you, Jay." I kiss her forehead. "I love you too Dallas."
