Jason's pov

She lays her head on my shoulder. I'm so glad she called me. "I know Texas was you is about me." I smile. "Yeah. I wrote it a week after you left." "It was a mistake leaving." I agree but I don't say anything. "We aren't gonna fight like last time?" "No way. I couldn't stand it when we fought over the stupidest things. I never wanna lose you again."

*the next day*

We go to her barn where she's got three horses she doesn't want to leave behind. "Luke will be here at noon with the trailer and we can get 'em loaded up." "Hey Jay you're favorite horse is still here." She says, walking to a stall. I close the door and walk over too. "Hey old man, you're still around?" I ask petting him. His name is Chase. "How about a little ride before Luke gets here?" She asks, pulling a saddle off the wall. "I think that'd be great."

Miranda's pov

He saddles Chase up and grabs my hand, helping me onto the horse. My other horses, Flara and Heaven whinny in their stalls. I laugh. "We'll come back." I call to them. He climbs on in front of me and I wrap my arms around his waist, laying my head on his back. "I'll always come back." I whisper as he snaps the reins and we gallop out of the barn. I close my eyes, enjoying the feel of a ride. One of his hands rests on my hand. I missed this so much. We reach an old dried up creek bed. We both get off. "It wasn't dry before." He mumbles, looking at the sandy bottom. I shrug it off and stand in the middle of it. "Been dry for a few months now." He ties Chase off and walks over to me. "Ya know the day you left.... I was gonna fix everything but you were gone when I got home." He says, holding my hands. What caused the last straw for me was the fact that he was always at the studio. Mostly to stay away from me so we wouldn't fight but it only ticked me off more! "I never stopped thinkin' about you Dallas." Tears come to my eyes. I'm about to reply when Chase starts wigging out. "What's wrong, boy?" I ask, looking over at him with my head still against his chest. He continues to freak. "Whoa whoa calm down." He says, grabbing the reins. "I wonder what that-" Then a huge roar goes off behind me. My eyes go wide and so does Jason's. "Babe, don't move." He says, shakily. "W-What's behind me?" I whimper. He raises his pistol. "Just stay
perfectly-" Something scratches me in the back, making me fall the pain like razorblades! Jason screams and helps me up but not before I see the bear! "Jason." I whimper. "I got ya baby." He says, helping me onto Chase. He grabs an old branch. I feel lightheaded and dizzy. He lights the branch on fire. "Back off!" He yells, waving the flaming branch at the bear. He pops off a couple shots of his pistol then climbs on. "Hold on tight." He says. I hold tight but I'm barely able to stay awake. We get back to the barn before I fall unconscious.

Jason's pov

She falls off and I jump down and carry her to the hay. I lift her shirt up to reveal three long jagged bloody cuts from the bear's claws. She's unconscious now. I get Chase put up and get her to the house, laying her on her bed.

Miranda's pov

I wake up to a sharp stinging in my back. I suck in a breath and try to sit up but a hand on my shoulder won't let me. "Don't move." He says. "Is it bad?" I ask worried. "You'll be fine..... But not enough to travel right now... We'll have to wait a few days." He presses a wet rag to my back, making me cry out and hold the blanket tight. He dresses the wound. "Phew there we go." He says, going to the bathroom to wash his hands. When he comes back, his face is all sweaty and red, worried. He lays beside me, holding me tight. "Where'd you learn to fend off a bear?" I gasp, surprised. "I guess watching the guy on Man VS wild enough. I just followed him." He kisses my head. "You're gonna be really tired soon. Doc had to give you some high intensity pain meds." He isn't kidding. I can barely keep my eyes open. My hand is clamped to the bedsheets, my face red and sweaty. "It hurts Jay." He gets back up and grabs a medical bag. "The doctor gave me just what you need." "When was the doctor here? And how long was I out?" "A few days ago. You went into shock, hun." He fills a syringe making my eyes go wide. I hate needles. "Don't come near me with that thing!" I gasp, sitting up quickly, pain ripping through me. "Baby it's gonna be okay. Compared to your back you won't even feel it." I stare at it terrified. "I-I hate needles." I mumble. "I know. Come here." I shakily lay back down and he puts it in my vein. I wince in pain, biting my lip. "There. That'll help the pain." But that's all I hear before I fall asleep again.
