Miranda's pov
I get back from the concert and sit by the phone for hours, working up the nerve to call him. Half of me hopes he does, the other half prays he doesn't. I snatch up the phone and dial the number before I can even rethink it. It rings and rings then goes to voicemail. "If you're callin' bout the truck, I sold it. If it's Tuesday night, I'm drinking with friends. If you've got somethin' to sell, you're wastin' your time, I ain't buyin'. If it's anybody else, wait for the tone, ya know what to do and by the way if this is Dallas, I still love you." I drop the phone in shock. It hits end for me when it hits the counter and bounces to the floor. "What kind of man would hang on that long?" I gasp, covering my mouth. He does love me.

I got a missed call. I call it back but no one answered. Me and Luke were playing pool in his basement. "A couple of us guys are going on a weekend long fishing trip. Ya wanna come?" I shoot a ball into the hole. "Yeah definitely. Especially since this weekend is the day I lost the girl of my dreams." I mumble bummed. He pats my shoulder. "One of these days you're gonna have to get over her." "I know." But I can't. I love her with all I got but she's gone. Luke's probably right.

I called again a few days later. And again he doesn't answer. I'm about to hang up when there's a different voicemail. "I'm at the lake this weekend with my friends so you won't be able to reach me at all but leave your number and I'll call you back when I get home on Sunday afternoon. And PS if this is Dallas I still love you." Oh man, he said it again! He made sure to say it! Why did I ever walk out on that?! This time I left my number but not another word. I can't wait for Sunday. What's gonna happen? Are we gonna get back together? I hope so.

I call the number back that called me. Before I even get a ring it goes to voicemail. "If you're callin' bout my heart it's still yours. I shoulda listened to it a little more then maybe it wouldn't have taken me so long to know where I belong and by the way cowboy, this is no machine you're talkin' to, can't you tell? This is Dallas and I still love you!" I almost drop the phone. But I tighten my grip in the nick of time. That wasn't a voicemail. "D-Dallas?" I shakily ask, using the nickname I always called her. I barely ever used her real name. No idea why. It's quiet but I can hear her breathing. "D-Dallas are y-you there?" "Yeah. I.... I'm sorry Jason. I shouldn't have left. I was wrong! Please take me back!" I can tell she's about to cry. I clamp a hand tight around the couch. "In an instant, girl, I'll drive to Texas tonight." "Thank you. I do love you!" "I love you too, I missed you so much." I hang up and the phone shakily drops from my hand shocked. I glance at the clock. Luke will still be awake. I call him up.

Jason's voice is super shaky when I answer. "Dude you okay?" "N-Not really. I.... I got a call...." "From who? What's going on?" "I-It was Dallas. I.... She wants to try us again." My eyes go wide. "But Jason you know how bad messed up you were after she left the first time! What if it doesn't work out again?!" "It will. This time I'm holding onto love. I won't ever let nothin' ruin us again. I love her and I'm gonna get her back."

I'm so nervous. Yet so excited. I wonder how much he's changed in a year. I pick up an old picture of us on our two year anniversary. Then I look at myself in the mirror. My hair is longer and darker. I have a tan and tougher muscles from working on the ranch. I hear the door open. "Dallas?" I shakily turn around. How'd he get here so fast? Tears shimmer in my eyes and I'm shocked to see his too. "Jason, is it really you?" He smiles and wipes his eyes. "Of course it's me. I can't believe after a whole year I finally have you again." I run into his arms, dropping the photo and wrapping my arms around his neck in a tight hug. "It just.... It doesn't feel real! This is really happening." "I got you, don't worry. I'm never letting you go again." We look into each other's eyes. "How'd you get here so fast?" "Had a show in Austin. So many memories but only one still hurt." His hair is darker and longer but he's clean shaven. Man he looks so much older than he was. His piercing green eyes boar into me. I close the distance and kiss him, my eyes closing and my grip around his neck tightening.

She's finally mine again. My Dallas is back. My hands are around her waist and I never wanna let her go.
