Miranda's pov
I was swimming in the lake for most of the day but I just got out and got dried off. I took a picture of myself and sent it to Jason. He texts back almost instantly.

I put the knife down when I hear my phone buzz. I was in the middle of cooking dinner. A picture text from my Dallas. I text her.
J: damn, girl, why do you tease me so!
M: lol wish u came with.
I couldn't. I wanted to surprise her with this. Cooking dinner instead of eating out. My phone rings now. I smile and put my Bluetooth in while I put potatoes in a pot of boiling water. I cut up the meat to make stir fry. "So where are we going for dinner?" She asks, making me smile. "It's a surprise." I say, putting the meat in the pan. "It better not be too expensive." She says. I chuckle softly and stir it. "Don't worry." I say. We get off the phone and I chill some wine and cut up some vegetables.

I was driving home when a song came on the radio. I smile and sing along to my hot boyfriend's voice. "California was a black car, a big white number three, Carolina was a yellow jeep, cruisin' down big Sur, ha ha, Georgia was a summer job and Bama was a spring break, I got memories all over the place but only one still hurts only one still hurts like Texas..... Was green eyes, cryin' goodbye was a long drive a heartache I'm still tryin' to get through and Texas was you!" I drum along to the beat of the music and the sun is setting.

I hear the front door open. I smile as I put the plates on the table. She puts down her bag that has her swim stuff. "Wow, you did all this?" I nod. She smiles that flirty smile. "Do you take walk ins sir?" She asks with flirt in her voice. I smile and pull her to my chest. "For you, I'll make an exception." I say with a smirk. I kiss her and pull the chair out for her. Then I go get the wine and pour it into glasses. "Hey babe, after dinner, Luke invited us to a bonfire." I say, walking back in. "I'm kinda tired from swimming so I'm probably just gonna stay here. But you can go." I bite my lip worried. "I don't know. I could stay if ya want." I say. "You don't have to but I'd like that." I smile. "Then, I'm stayin'." I say. We clink wine glasses together and eat dinner.
*later*
I turned on some Netflix and she was drifting off on my shoulder. I smile and kiss her head. "Hey Jason," She whispers. "Yeah?" "I heard Texas was you when I was comin' home." I smile and wrap an arm around her. "I love you." I say. She tilts her head up and I kiss her gently, putting my finger under her chin. "I love you too, Jay." I wrap both my arms around her and her head rests on my chest. "Dinner was great tonight." "Thanks. I'm glad I did it." She sits up quickly. "Did you hear that?" My pace quickens. "Hear what?" She's always had really good intuitions and I've never gone against them. "It sounded like...... A low growl." She mumbles, looking around. A low growl?! I stand up, gripping my pistol. She grabs my hand, catching me by surprise and I drop the weapon. "Uh wait!" I gasp, worried. She pulls me down the hall. "Darlin' I dropped my gun." I gasp. She laughs. "You won't be needing that." Oh she was messing with me this whole time. There was no growl. I roll my eyes, realizing how dumb I was to fall for that. She opens the door and we go in our bedroom.
*the next morning*
"You love to mess with me, don't ya baby." I whisper, drawing a finger up her arm. She smiles, her eyes closed. "You fall for it every time, Mr. Georgia boy." I chuckle slightly at the new nickname. "Hey Jason, I want us to be together til the day we die." She whispers, her head against my chest and my arm around her. "We will baby. I'm never letting you go. And someday we'll get married and have a nice little family and they'll be just as awesome and perfect as you." I kiss her head. "And they'll be just as stubborn and bighearted as you." She says, rubbing a hand on my bare chest. Man, I love this life.
