Walk This Way

"I don't get why you always have to cover my eyes when surprising me. I'm a grown woman, I think I know how to close my eyes." I joked

"Well... Maybe I can't trust you." Steven giggled

I know it was only a joke, but something about the way he said that made me stop dead in my tracks, with Steven bumping into the back of me. He must've caught on to my train of thought because he quickly added; "To not open your eyes, sweetheart! Of course I trust you with everything else! I just know that you don't really like surprises, so to make sure you don't peek, I'll keep your eyes closed for you." He kissed my temple.

"You promise to keep your eyes closed until I tell you to open them?" He asked.

"Yes, Baby. I promise." I smiled

"Okay. Fine." he came around from behind me, and swooped me up into his arms.

"WOAH. STEVEN!. I wasn't expecting that!" I laughed.

"Okay... 3.....2.....1....OPEN!"

I opened my eyes just as Steven carried me over the threshold of our home in L.A.

When he set me down, I looked around and was just as in awe as I was with the home in Columbia.

It was so Steven. Gorgeously decorated. Modern.

"There's another thing I want to show you... go right into that room, right there." He said, pointing down a long corridor to a set of french doors.

"What's with you and the french doors?" I giggled

"I'm a stylish man, who's got a knack for big things." He winked, and laughed

I walked down the hall and paused, placing my hand on the knob of the door. I turned to look back at Steven, almost worried at what I would find. I turned back to the door, opened it, and walked into the most beautiful room I've ever seen.

The room was an indoor/outdoor zen garden, with a closed in glass gazeebo. I walked through the garden, and found that drectly in the center of the garden was an elaborately designed rug, which kinda looked like the one from Aladdin. Placed in front of the carpet was a tiny statue of the Bhudda, and an incense holder, for when I like to burn it.

I came to the realization that Steven built this place... for me.

He came up behind me and placed his hands on my shoulder.

"Do you like it?" He whispered into my ear

"You built me a zen garden?" I turned to him with tears in my eyes. "Baby, it's beautiful, but you didn't have to at all. I can meditate anywhere you really didnt ha-"

He hushed me by putting a finger to my lips. "Well.. when you said you like to meditate, I was intrigued, because I like to do it, as well. So I had this place built for us.

I couldn't believe it. I was so ecstatic. I kissed him passionately, and after a minute, he pulled back.

"I'll leave you here. Meditate. Find yourself. Break the place in." He giggled, and stepped out of the room, closing the doors behind him.

I lit the incense, crossed my legs, closed my eyes, and inhaled deeply. I tried to clear my mind and target my shakras.

Trying to explain meditation to someone who doesn't is often difficult, because the experience is different for everyone.

When I closed my eyes, and finally got everything out of my mind, I had what some would call a revelation.

Of course, I had to work a little and discover the true meaning behind my revelation.

All I saw with closed eyes, were bright lights. I heard something that sounded like the ocean. The loud winds and crashing of waves. Or large crowds of people? I wasn't sure yet.

Then, I saw a figure standing before me. It looked like Steven, but it didn't.

It spoke to me in a voice that I couldn't determine as female or male.

"Walk This Way." It said, as it held out it's hand to me.

I knew exactly what I needed to do, just by looking at this figure.

I opened my eyes, took a deep breathe, and walked out of the room. I turned back just before I closed the door, and blew a kiss to the tiny Bhudda statue. "Thank You." I whispered as I shut the door.

"Steven.." I said, as we were munching on our dinner.

"Yes, Baby." He replied, a mouth full of pizza

I giggled, because he was just so adorable. "I-" I paused... really thinking over my decision.

He eyed me warily.

"I think I want to audition for American Idol."

"Babe... You hate that show. You think it just crushes people's spirits, and it's pointless." He said flatly.

"I.. I know, I do." I said, looking down at my feet. "But...When I was meditating, I had... a revelation, if you will... I felt like," I chuckled "I felt like I wasted almost $200,000 on an education when I could've stuck to singing."

He grinned, knowing exactly where I was going with this.

"I want to make it big. It's where I belong." He opened his mouth to say something, but I cut him off.

"And no... I don't want you to just hand it to me.. I want to be on American Idol, so I can work for it. I can see if I truly deserve it." I saw a glimmer in his eyes, and I knew he was up to something.

"Okay, Baby." He smiled.

"I think I'll audition this year. After the tour ends." I smiled, thinking about it.

"Okay, Baby. I'll be there for you." He smiled again, as I turned my attention back to my food.
