I've met Paul McCartney. I'm dating Steven Tyler. I was on stage with Aerosmith infront of thousands of people. Nervous shouldn't be in my vocabulary. So why am I freaking out about walking all of 20 feet onto a stage, and getting a piece of paper with my name on it?
It's May 16th, and I'm finally graduating college, with my Master's Degree. It's been 5 short years, and I'm honestly sad to go. I love USC so much. The people, the restaurants and bars, the parties, the courses and professors, and of course the friends I've made. I had a wonderful experience here, that I'll never forget.
I tried calming myself down, by looking in the mirror and talking long deep breathes.
I was wearing a sexy white sundress, and wedged heels. As usual, my hair was curled, and my make-up was light and summery.
"Ready, ba-" He paused as he walked into the room, he stood still just staring at me.
"What?" I asked, and then I looked down. "It's the dress isn't it? Too inappropriate? I knew I should've chosen something different. Shit"
"No... Mia." Steven said, almost a whisper, "You're.. You're stunning."
"Then what is it?" I asked, feeling my nerves getting the best of me.
"You took my breath away." He came up behind me and kissed my shoulder. I smiled, and then turned around to kiss him.
"Let's go," he said, pulling away. "You've got a deploma to recieve." He grabbed my hand and we walked out of the room.
"What about Lauren and Joe, are they meeting us there?" I asked
"Yeah, they're gonna take their car." Steven chuckled.

After 2 hours of speeches from professors, parents, benefactors, and the valedvictorian, the president of the university came to the stage.
"Ladies and Gentleman, esteem guests, parents, and the graduating class of 2013, we have one more speaker before we begin handing out the deplomas. It is my greatest honor to welcome to the stage, to give a great farewell to the graduating class, and good luck with their future, but also to perform; Steven Tyler!" He announced.
I wasn't expecting this. My eyes shot up, from picking at my nails, and were fixed onto the stage. Why wouldn't Steven tell me he was going to speak? Was he even any good at giving speeches? I mean, I guess we'll find out.
Steven stood up admidst the applause, walked to the podium, took a breath, and began to speak.
"I'll have to ask your forgiveness, I'm entirely unprepared. I was asked to say something to the graduating class about 5 minutes after It was discovered that I was in attendance. Honestly, I know nothing about college." He began, as laughter errupted. "Now, I'm not saying you wasted your hard earned money, but I didn't go, and I think I turned out pretty well." he chuckled.
"If there's one thing I should be giving a speech on, it would be about hard work and dedication. All of you fine young adults, have put many years and thousands of dollars into this great institution to teach you to become great at whatever it is you want to do. Now, you can pay all the money you want to whoever you want, but you won't be successful without hard work and dedication." He paused again, looking at me.
"Joe Perry, could you please stand up?" Joe stood and waved, as gasps, and camera snaps became audible. "Joe Perry and I met about 9 years ago up at Lake Sunapee. We both sat around my lake house, smoking pot all day, and dreaming about making it big in a rock band one day. Yeah, we dabbled around with music, and eventually started something great, but the greatness that is Aerosmith wouldn't have ever happened if Joe and I didn't get off our asses and do something about those dreams we were having. When we met up with Joey, Tom and Brad, we toured around America, and Canada for almost a full year, doing little gigs, and living off dollars a day, just to come back to Columbia records, and beg for them to sell our album. Then, we had to do it again, because our first record didn't sell. We're known as the 'Bad Boys Of Boston' and 'America's Greatest Rock N Roll Band' but again, I stress to youall, that we wouldn't be anywhere near those things if we hadn't worked for it. We paid all the record companies whatever we could afford, but it was hard work that got us to where we are today, just like you paid USC to teach you, but their teachings can only bring you so far. Now, it's your turn. Go out into the world, with your education, and make it a better place through hard work."
