It’s was my 15th birthday. I saw was because it will be midnight in a few minutes and thus ending my birthday. I didn’t have a huge birthday party. I’m not the kind of girl to make a big deal out of her birthday. I’m fully content with having a small gathering with my closest friend and that is exactly what we did. Well, except that that small gathering was filled with presents!
Tams got me this really beautiful glass box so that I can keep all my treasured belongings in it. It's big enough to hold my journal and important documents or simple stuff like my fortune cookies that I like to collect. Molly gave me a homemade coffee cup that she made at the local pottery shop in town. It was really pretty and I loved it! I'm using it to hold my pencils and pens, since I don't drink coffee and it's too sentimental to be used for anything else. I honestly didn't know that she was good with ceramics. The detail of the cup was exquisite with it's purple painted lily and colorful swirls. The handle was twined in a rope form and painted a lively green. It was just beautiful. Kyle got me a red scarf and I couldn't help but laugh at his sheepish smile - as if he couldn't think of anything to get a girl. Triston bought me the All American Reject's newest album Move Along, which I absolutely wanted! He had definitely been listening when I was going on about it. I truly loved all of their gifts and was grateful for having my friends with me today.
We ended up having a movie night here and I invited Tammy, Kyle, Triston, and Molly. (Molly has officially become part of the group although Triston and her aren’t together…yet.) We had a horror movie marathon filled with Halloween, Friday the 13th and the Strangers. I hadn’t seen the last one but it had me jumping out of my skin! Thinking that people would just go and kill a normal couple for no apparent reason – completely rendered me speechless. Kind of like what Wuthering Heights did to me, but that was on a whole different level than this.
It made me start to think about some of those weird things that had been happening around the neighborhood like how one my old friends Lucy from middle school disappeared for a few days and returned outright hysterical. No one knew where she’d gone and when she explained she talked of monsters with red eyes gashing at her skin. She did have claw marks terms of use and copyright policy.raking her body, but the most logical reasoning for it was that she was mauled by some sort of animal, and then left to hallucinate at the brink of possible death. What I didn’t understand was how she found her way back home. Lucy wasn’t the last victim of these strange attacks.
A couple of weeks after my old friend Leon also disappeared but when he returned he gave the story that someone had controlled him and played with him. I was just so shocked and was afraid that he had been a victim of rape, but he swore that that wasn’t what he meant. He tried to explain to his parents and to me that he was being controlled to do things that were against his will. Petty crimes like stealing from a market or a store. It was always theft. But I couldn’t offer an explanation as to what had happened to him. Maybe he was drugged and he just couldn’t remember any of the events.
Finally, there was Autumn. Autumn had been a very close friend of mine in middle school. She and I kinda just stopped being friends after Gabriel left. I figured out that she was more Gabriel’s friend than mine and that he was the one who had been keeping us together. But anyways, Autumn disappeared about two weeks ago. The whole town came together and there were dozens of search parties looking for her for days with no luck, until she came back home two nights ago.
She was a complete mess when she stumbled out of the forest and into my street where she lived. Her hair was disheveled and dirt covered every inch of her body. Her eyes were bloodshot and there were angry marks covering her arms. The sun was low on the horizon and I took that time to go outside and write without having the hot summer sun beating down on me. That’s when I saw her and I ran towards her, hugging her in my arms as relief washed over me in knowing that she was back, that she was okay. But she wasn’t okay. She was hysterical as Lucy had been. She talked about the same things that Lucy had, but when Lucy came back she didn’t look completely drained of life. Yes, she had been bleeding excessively, but Autumn looked like her she had been drained – energy wise…I don’t know how to explain it exactly.
It’s just all very odd. The neighborhood has been on high alert and has upgraded their security systems, but I have a feeling that those won’t help. Something is going on, but I just don’t know what. The strangest thing though is that Lucy, Leon, and Autumn had all been some of my close friends in middle school. Was there a pattern here? The only two people left from our group were me and Gabriel…
I don’t know…I honestly don’t know what to think. Maybe, I’m reading too much in this and nothing out of the norm is happening except that there is a predator on the loose doing who-knows-what with teenagers. Maybe drugs are involved…that would explain the hallucinations.
Anyways, I don’t know why my thoughts went to these gruesome events. It was that stupid movie, that’s what it was! I don’t think I’ll be watching any scary movies for a very long time. I don’t even know why I agreed on horror! Oh yeah, right. I remember. It was because Kyle and Triston. They didn’t want to sit through the whole afternoon watching chick flicks or romance, which I thought was very selfish of them. I mean it’s my birthday for crying out loud! They could suffer a few romantic movies. Gees….boys. Plus, they could use that time to cuddle! I was the one who didn’t have anyone. They were really stupid that is what they are!
Hahaha. I crack myself up. I should probably be getting to bed now. It is now 12:47 and I am beat. Today was definitely fun. I liked it and I hope I can spend more days like these with my friends.
