Luke had just got done his show and was walking towards his tour bus. Kelly was sleeping soundly. He smiled as soon as he saw her. She was beautiful, definitely resembled her mother. Luke quickly pulled his phone out, but sighed when he didn't see a text or missed call from Caroline. He really did lose her and wasn't getting her back. Maybe he should take that as a sign. He shouldn't be moving on so quick from May anyways. Besides, was he actually in love with Caroline or just saying that? Maybe he was just saying that, because she likes him. That had to be it.
He reached in to rub Kelly's stomach. There was no way he could move on from May this quick. He was still in love with her. It still hurt him. He would never truly get over her. Love can make you do crazy things, and if he could, he'd go on without anyone but Kelly for the rest of his life.
That's what he thought until Caroline kissed him. Now, he wasn't too sure what he wanted. Luke was gonna do everything in his power to get Caroline back. Even if his heart would end up broken in the end, he was willing to risk it to be happy again with someone he could potentially love for the rest of his life.
Was Caroline his future, though? No, she couldn't be. She would be a rebound if he dated her next. But, would she be? He didn't break up with May, she just died. So, would Caroline technically be a rebound? Luke groaned in aggravation. He didn't know what to do. He could be in love or just thinking he his. The only way to know for sure was if he saw Caroline again. But he knew that she was gone forever. He'll never love again after this.
Caroline woke up early the next morning. She rubbed her eyes and yawned before reaching over for her phone. She opened up her messages to once again, see the video of Luke performing. She clicked on it and was taken by surprise when he had admitted his feelings for her in front of thousands of people. He seemed to be begging them to record the video and post it on social media, in hopes that she'd see it. Well, she did. Now what? Should she call him and listen to what he has to say for himself? Luke was almost crying when he said what he did wrong. At least he knew he was wrong.
She shook her head and dialed Luke's number. It went straight to voicemail. Well, that's weird. Didn't he want her to call him. What if he's hurt? What if he got drunk last night? Caroline couldn't help but worry. Especially after watching the video and knowing what condition he was in. She tried again. Still went to voicemail. Caroline could feel the tears coming. She knew she loved him, she knew he felt the same. And now, knowing that something might have happened to home, she didn't know if she could ever forgive herself for leaving his house that night.
Instead of trying again, she called Leah, who answered right away. "Caroline, did you see the video yet?" she asked right away.
"Something's wrong," Caroline cried. "Leah, something is wrong. I know it."
"What are you talking about?"
Caroline wiped some tears away, trying to stay focused on the conversation. "Luke. Something's wrong with him. I can feel it. I've tried calling him, but he won't answer. Leah, if he's hurt, I'll never forgive myself. Never."
"Okay, okay. Let's not just jump to conclusions. Luke's in love with you, so it's been stressing him out that you're not talking to him. So, he may be just knocked out on the couch after drinking too many beers. Don't you have his friend's number? Or his manager's?"
"I only have Luke's. I only know Luke," Caroline answered. "If he's laying dead somewhere-"
"Caroline, stay positive. I highly doubt he's dead," Leah soothed. "He'll be okay. Give me his number, he might be ignoring you."
Caroline took in a deep breath and provided Leah with his number. Hoping that he was just ignoring her. "Please, Leah, let him be okay."
"He will be. I'll call you back," Leah replied before hanging up.
