"Right here?" Caroline asked. The sandy beach was filled with people. The settled breeze blew through Caroline's hair, Luke watching her in her beautiful light blue bikini. He swore she wore that one just because he loved the colour blue. "Luke?" Caroline waved her hand in front of his face. "How about here?"
Luke finally snapped out of it, nodding his head in agreement. "Yeah, yeah. Here's good," he answered, surveying the area. There was a nice maple tree, towering over the spot on the beach that Caroline had picked out. He sat Kelly down on a towel. She giggled as she sat there, playing with her teething ring. "I can't believe she's already five months old, almost six months."
Caroline laid out some more towels for her and Luke to sit on. Luke sat next to Kelly, helping to support her as she hasn't quite gotten sitting on her own down yet. "They do grow up fast," Caroline agreed, after she finally sat down next to him.
"When's Leah and Blaine suppose to get here?" Luke asked.
Caroline checked the time on her phone. "Soon."
"Well, I have an interview later this evening, so we can't stay long. Kerri wants it done and over with," Luke reminded his girlfriend for what seemed like the thousandth time.
"I know, baby. I won't forget. I love you, but God, are you ever annoying?" Caroline laughed.
Luke just shoom his head with a smile before leaning in and kissing her lips lightly.
They then pulled apart after hearing the giggles coming from two little babies. Luke looked to his right to see Blaine sitting Nash on the towel.
"Does she not know how to sit on her own?" Blaine asked.
"Not for long periods at a time, no," Luke answered him.
"And were you just making out with Caroline just now?" he then asked with a smirk.
Luke rolled his eyes. "No, just a kiss. She's too cute. How can you not kissing her?"
"Try being married to that lunatic," Blaine retorted, looking at Leah as he did so.
Leah scoffed before continuing on her conversation with Caroline. "Yeah, well, Caroline is like her twin," Luke laughed.
"So, what's the verdict?" Blaine quizzed him.
"The verdict on what?" Luke asked, confused.
But before Blaine could respond, Caroline was speaking. "Hey, baby, Leah and I are gonna go walk along the beach. I'll be back soon."
Luke smiled, leaning in to give a quick peck on the lips. "Okay, love."
"Blaine, don't kill Nash while I'm gone," Leah warned. "I will cut you if you hurt my baby."
"Well, I love you too," Blaine said as he rolled his eyes. He then leaned in for a quick kiss, but Leah stopped him.
"Nah, uh. No kiss, I'll be back soon," Leah said before her and Caroline left.
"I hate being married sometimes," Blaine complained. "I love Leah to death, but it's just not the same. I miss the romance we used to have, like what you and your girlfriend have."
"Just tell her that, I'm sure she misses it too. And besides, isn't Leah a jokester? You should expect this," Luke pointed out.
"Yeah, I guess," Blaine said. "Now, what's the verdict on this relationship of yours? You gonna propose?"
Luke just stared at Blaine blankly. "Propose?"
"Yes, aren't you going to propose?"
Luke didn't know how to answer this. Of course he loved her, but he never thought about proposing. Wasn't it too soon? Besides, the public didn't like how fast he was moving with Caroline. It was bad enough that they were expecting a baby. The media killed for that kind of thing.
Luke was about to comment, but then Caroline just wrapped her arms around him. How was it that she was back so quick? Luke slowly let go of Kelly, letting Blaine support her and hugged Caroline back. "What happened?" he asked after seeing that Caroline was crying.
"Those lousy, fucking, stupid, pieces of shit decided to say your damn girlfriend wasn't pretty," Leah scoffed. "Just because she's pregnant."
Luke rubbed Caroline's back slowly. "Hey, baby, it's okay, you're fine. Those girls, whoever they are, don't know a single thing about beauty. You're gorgeous. They're only saying that, because they're insecure and don't believe they, themselves, are beautiful."
"Yeah, besides, Carol, the only opinion that matters is Luke's," Blaine told her. "Now, what exactly happened?"
Leah sighed. "Okay, prepare for a lot of swearing."
Luke raised an eyebrow. He turned to face Blaine. "And you married this woman?"
Blaine rolled his eyes. "Shut up."
Leah took in a deep breath before continuing on. "Okay, so, this is what happened when we went on our walk..."
"So, do you know if he's the one?" Leah asked Caroline as they walked along the shoreline.
"Yeah, I think so. He's so good to me. I'm starting to think that this baby, and Kelly, brought us even closer. I don't know who I'd be without him," Caroline told her. "Of course, his life will take some getting used to, but I think I can handle it."
"Well, I'm glad that both of you are hap-"
Leah stopped when she heard two college girls snickering behind her. "Ew, whoever let her wear a bikini with that body needs to be shot."
"Uh, duh! I mean, what kind of man lets his girl walk around a public beach in that while pregnant?"
"I feel so sorry for him, he deserves so much better."
Leah turned around. "You better shut your fucking mouth before I jumpkick you in the face! No one, and I mean no one, talks about my best friend in that way!"
Caroline grabbed Leah's arm, pulling on her. "They're not worth it."
"Is that what your husband said when he left you after he saw how ugly you look pregnant?" a short girl remarked.
Caroline could start to feel tears well up in her eyes. Leah noticed and became overcome with rage. "STOP! Why don't you insecure little girls go cry to someone else?! Talking shit about women in their thirties isn't making you look any better! Rememberm you'll look like this one day too! Now, back the fuck up before you give me a reason to hurt you!"
"...and then after that, I brought her back here and she ran into Luke's arms," Leah finished.
"Wow, feisty," Luke said, shocked.
"Whoa, babe has lost her chill," Blaine chuckled.
"Damn straight, I did!" Leah huffed.
Luke rubbed Caroline's back. "Well, baby, if it makes you feel any better, I think you look hot. Especially when you're pregnant. Hey, you're having my baby, that makes you even more beautiful in my eyes."
Caroline smiled as she pulled away from Luke's chest and wiped her baby blue eyes. She kissed him quick. "Let's swim!"
The girls ran to the water while the guys got the kids ready. Luke and Blaine slowly put the kids in the water and Kelly was squealing with joy. She saw Caroline and tried to get to her, but Luke wouldn't let her go past her ankles. He did find it rather adorable when Kelly, a baby who could barely sit up on her own, tried to walk and crawl over to Caroline in water.
Caroline eventually noticed that Kelly was trying to get to her. She came over and that's when Luke and her both were shocked and surprised by Kelly.
"Mama!"
Kelly had said her first word. Luke smiled as he passed her to Caroline, not knowing what to say. Caroline was left speechless. She wasn't Kelly's biological mother, but, no matter what, she was still the only mother figure Kelly had. She was happy she was.
