Chapter 13

Elsie’s POV

“Nathan, I’m just going to go hunting, okay?” I called out from downstairs and Nathan sprinted down the steps.

“Why?” He pouted.

“Why do you think?” I chuckled and smiled at him. I patted his hair and he frowned.

“Don’t take too long, ‘kay?” He whispered against my neck and I nodded. I pecked his lips before taking off outside.

I went to the usual hunting area and pinned down the first deer I saw and sucked it dry. I was still feeling a little hungry and roamed the place for an animal that’s a bit bigger. I sniffed around and tensed up a bit when I smelled something unfamiliar—another vampire.

I stood my ground and listened. The vampire whizzed behind me and I spun around, following this person’s movements. That’s when he or she came up behind me. I felt a presence and turned around once again.

He’s a male, with sandy colored hair and a suspicious look on his face. His expression scared me.

“Hello,” he tilted his head to the side as if he was examining me and I shifted nervously.

“Who are you?” I asked, not even returning his greeting.

“Feisty one, aren’t you?” He joked.

“No, I’m just hungry,” I said sarcastically and I stepped off to the side but he blocked my way.

“Hold on, now, I’m William,” he held his hand out for me to shake and I shook it hesitantly.

“Yeah, I’m Elsie, now if you excuse me I’d like to go hunt an animal,” I said, not looking at him.

“I’ll join you!” He replied enthusiastically and I rolled my eyes slightly.

“I prefer to hunt on my own, actually,” I tell him. I crossed my arms. He just stared at me, making me all the more nervous. I wasn't the most inviting being on this planet...it takes me time to fully get comfortable with someone.

“There’s something about you, Elsie…” William said as he pushed a piece of hair out of my face and I stepped back abruptly.

“And what’s that?”

“I feel…drawn to you…Elsie,” he said my name flirtatiously and I flinched. He stepped closer to me, breathing me in and the next thing I knew he’s running off into the woods. I shivered, hoping I’d never see him again.

I was most likely in a situation I didn't fully understand.

 I must’ve been quite shaken up after meeting “William” because I slammed the front door shut. Nathan rushed over to me and pulled me into a tight hug. I chuckled.

“I missed you, too,” I mumbled into his chest and I felt him stiffen around me.

“Who were you with?” He asked, pushing me arms length away from him. I frowned. I forgot that he’s naturally very possessive of me, as I him, and mentally slapped myself; he must’ve smelled William’s scent on me.

“Umm…” I stuttered nervously. I wasn't sure on how I was going to explain this.

"Who were you with?“ He said again, and began to drop all these threats and I stopped him before this could turn into a real argument.

“I was hunting…then there was this male vampire that showed up out of nowhere and he introduced himself as William…” I told him slowly but Nath cut me off.

“Did he touch you?” He had a hint of anger in his voice and I huffed.

“Um, he got close to my face and...” I confessed.

“And what?”

"He told me he felt drawn to me," I replied and it sounded like a question. Though I had no idea, really, what William meant by that. I’m already mated to Nathan.

His face contorted in pain and anger and he grabbed me into another hug, but this one was protective and I gave in and wrapped my arms around him.

“Please. Don’t make a big fuss. I don’t think I’ll ever see him again,” I told him softly. I felt Nathan’s arms loosen up a bit and he muttered, “Let’s hope so. Or I will kill him if he comes near you again. No one gets to touch you except for me,”

I looked up at him and gave him a  lingering kiss. “I guess I’d do the same for you if a slut came near you,”

Nathan laughed and I smiled at him, seeing the anger from his face was gone. “You’re mine and no one else’s. I’ll protect you,” he stated as he leaned in.

“I know.” I breathed and soon we were back in my room doing the usual.

A/N: Oooo, "the usual." Haha, sorry, it's like, 11:15 pm, and I am quite tired. But guess what? I updated and added some foreshadowing in there to jazz it up a bit!
