Chapter 24

Nathan’s POV

London, here we come.

Technically, I was coming home, but I decided that I should bring Elsie back to London, as she hasn’t been there since her last day as a human. I asked that everyone else stay in Yorkshire for the whole two weeks we’d be in London and they happily obliged…and teased me. They obviously knew what would happen.

“Are we close?” El asked excitedly. I squeezed her hand for the millionth time for the past 2 hours we’ve been driving.

“Yes and no,” I told her slyly.

“I’m guessing we’re only half way there,” she muttered and I laughed softly.

“Don’t worry. I think it’s worth the wait. Especially for you,” I glanced at her and her face twisted in confusion, then her full lips formed a smile.

“Fine,” she sighed, looking out the window.

“I’d speed up my driving, but I really don’t want to risk being pulled over by an officer again…” I told her.

“’Another’?” Her voiced raised a little.

“Yeah, funny story…”

“Go on,” she pressed and chuckled.

“I got my first car in the ‘60’s. Since then I’ve had many instances where I’ve been pulled over for speeding. I got away with it, for the most part. It got easier in the ‘90’s when women police officers became common,” I chuckled.

“You’re terrible,” El said, completely understanding what I meant.

A comfortable silence fell over us after that. I decided to have a little fun and speed up the last supposed hour we have on this drive. I was already driving quite fast initially.

We got into the outskirts of London in no time, and the house wasn’t any farther away. El gasped when she acknowledged the slight change in architecture...she knew I've brought her back to London.

Soon, we entered the quiet housing area and pulled up in front of…a typical- looking house. It wasn’t very big, but since we didn’t really need material things, and even though we all still had our own bedrooms, everything was shared within the clan. Over the years we kept only the most interesting and note-worthy items that would have antique fanatics raving just to save on space. We had at least one item from every decade….

“This is such a cute house,” El cooed as she went through the living room and I chuckled.

“Quite ironic, isn’t it? You’d expect your and this house to be dark and eerie, but it’s the total opposite,” I said and she hummed.

“Well, you would’ve been ratted out for suspicion ages ago…” El lightly touched the antiques with her fingertips. She turned around when I sighed after placing our suitcases on the hardwood floor.

“Tired?” She teased and I walked towards her and placed my hands on her hips.

“No, actually,” I breathed and El looked down. I’m sure if she could, she’d be blushing right now. Taking me by surprise, she just wraps her arms around my middle and breathes out contently.

“I’m happy,” she says simply and I felt like my dead heart was about to beat.

“Good,” I replied. She looked up at me and I kissed her on the lips.

Her hands moved to settle on my shoulders and mine instinctively wrapped under her legs, forcing her to jump.

I managed to walk us to my bedroom upstairs without breaking the kiss.

Elsie’s POV

The next day

“Sometimes I wish I could still drink tea…” I confessed shyly. After hours of walking (not that I was complaining, since vampires don’t get tired as easily as humans due to something such as walking for hours), Nathan and I ended up in Harrods. He bought me a small, signature Harrods teddy bear and now I was watching humans having high tea like a deprived child.

“I doubt you wish that as much as I do,” Nath smirked at me and I looked up at him.

“Oh yeah?” I said in a challenging tone. At this point he led me away from the jolly civilians drinking tea and towards the front entrance of Harrods.

“Tea was probably the only thing I drank when I was still human,” he laughed gently and intertwined our fingers. My cardigan had slid off my right shoulder, the end of the sleeve get caught in between our palms. Seeing the exposed sliver of skin on my shoulder, Nathan places a few kisses there as we walk on.

We did some more walking, stopping by at some of the oldest places in London. At some places, Nathan would reminisce to the time that that place first opened, how it was when it was just being built, or how the area looked overall with people bustling about doing their daily business.

“You sound terribly old, dear,” I joked and he flipped me off. We both laughed. Just then I saw that familiar head of blonde hair. It couldn’t have been….

“Something wrong? You tensed up all of a sudden,” Nathan asked me, concerned.

“Oh, it’s nothing. I thought I saw something…”

“Okay…” he said, not sounding too sure if he should just let it go.

The blonde turned around suddenly, causing her hair to flip over her shoulder, and began walking in our direction. She was carrying a toddler with her, along with a heavy-looking shoulder bag on her left shoulder. Her face isn’t as youthful as I had expected. She looked weak.

The closer she got, the more it hit me, and once she brushed against my arm, my thoughts were confirmed.

“Tilda.” Her name slipped out and she looked at me in shock.

A/N: Ooooo, Elsie and Tilda see each other after 6 years...did Tilda ever think she was dead? Hmmmmm. Lol, sorry, I'm a little delerious. Plus, I'm listening to 70's-80's music. It's like, past midnight where I am, and for that, I am also sorry for the obvious grammar mistakes. Stay tuned, my lovelies :) xx
